Job Description

A Fast Growing, Global Food Manufacturer based in greater Philadelphia is hiring a Food Safety and Quality Manager with experience in protein industries to join their senior management team. This Food Safety and Quality Manager will lead a team to provide company-wide direction on food safety, quality assurance program, quality audits, sanitation, and support production, operations, warehouse with any quality compliance, investigation, food safety practices and programs, this is a permanent opportunity with high growth potential, lucrative base compensation, bonus and benefit package.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee accurate quality documents, recertifications, certifications, traceability of records, ensure proper documentation and maintain quality library, records.
  • Ability to advance to senior level leadership role in Quality Management.
  • Collaborate with internal cross functional to streamline quality operations and compliance, provide coaching to company-wide and act as the change agent to drive improvement and standardize quality policy.
  • Reports to COO and lead a team to oversee company-side quality assurance programs, food safety, HACCP program support, Audits, Team management and development, investigations, training, reduce non-compliance food safety and quality assurance issues and continuously drive process improvement across company on quality operations.
  • Support company-wide quality audits, third-party, government inspections and audits, and undertakes customer and SQF, Organic, EU, and customer audits as needed, identify issues and investigate for root cause, implement improvement plan and corrective action to reduce recurring quality issues, improve compliance for materials, production, finished products, etc.
  • Support supplier quality program and ensure in-bound quality approval process on incoming raw meat materials, seafoods, packaging materials and related incoming materials, collaborate with procurement on global and domestic suppliers’ qualifications, supplier corrective action and suppliers selection process.
  • Lead investigation on customer returned products, customer complaints, supplier rejections, production waste and rejections, identify root cause and follow up, follow through on complaints and related issues, develop timely corrective action and implement CAPA and improvement plan.
  • Lead staff planning, development, hiring for quality team, provide hands-on support, training, mentoring to subordinates.
  • Maintain, management, update quality systems including HACCP programs, stay abreast of current regulatory requirements, implement new processes and procedures to ensure company remain compliant with HACCP, FDA, USDA and SQF regulations.


Qualifications:

  • Strong people skill, ability establish and develop relationship with internal teams, government agencies, suppliers, customers, etc., ability to maintain effective communication.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in food sciences, microbiology, or related technical fields.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and critical thinking skills, ability to develop corrective action and improvement plan to cultivate lean and continuously improvement culture.
  • Solid experience in quality auditing, quality inspection FDA/USDA regulations, Department of Agriculture regulation, etc.
  • Recent years of leadership tenure in food safety, quality management within food and beverage industries
  • Solid experience in managing a large manufacturing, processing, and packaging plant runs 24/7; in-depth knowledge of HACCP, SQF, Big Five in Food Safety, Food Hazards, FDA, USDA, GMP, Good housekeeping, etc.
  • Team players with high integrity, values and a positive attitude, ability to overcome disagreement and conflicts effectively.
  • Ability to provide training, mentoring, teaching, coaching to both subordinates, internal teams, customers, suppliers etc.
