The City of Pearland operates under a council-manager form of government and is comprised of a Mayor and seven Council Members. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Purchasing Officer monitors, evaluates, plans, and coordinates the services and programs of purchasing. This role directly supervises three employees, including two buyers and one contract administrator.
The City of Pearland seeks an experienced, team-oriented leader to serve as its next Purchasing Officer. The ideal candidate is compliance-minded and solution-oriented, who is open and amenable to innovative ideas and solutions.
A bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field, and a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in purchasing supplies, materials, and equipment commonly used by municipal government agencies, is required. Any combination of equivalent experience and training to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Candidates who possess a professional certification from a recognized Purchasing Association (Certified Purchasing Manager or Certified Public Purchasing Official) or are able to attain one within three years of employment, are preferred. Candidates must have a valid Texas Class “C” driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
The salary range for this position is $87,080- $112,000 based on qualifications and experience.
