Director Of Purchasing - New Home Construction

William Ryan Homes is seeking an experienced and motivated DIRECTOR OF PURCHASING to join our GROWING Dallas/Ft. Worth Team! The person in this position is responsible for managing a Team of Purchasing professionals that supports the Construction, Sales, and Design Center Teams sell and build homes in a timely and cost effective manner

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain relationships with Vendors and Suppliers across all categories.
• Assist in the set-up, development, and issuance of effective and accurate purchase orders for new projects
• Negotiate terms, prices, and contracts with Vendors and Suppliers to secure the most favorable terms and pricing.
• Provide additional support to the division as needed
• Review all master sets of Plans, Building Specifications, and Vendor Scopes of Work with Division Construction/Purchasing personnel to ensure information is always up to date.
• Assist in the preparation of Monthly and Quarterly reports
• Identify and implement strategies to optimize costs, quality, and delivery of materials and services.
• Review Plan specific Marketing Collateral
• Supervise, Train and Assume responsibility for all work of the Purchasing Department
• Field verify contracted quantities

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make strategic decisions
• Excellent project and time-management skills
• Existing relationships with Vendors and Suppliers across the DFW area.
• Team player with the ability to prioritize and project manage
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
• Excellent technology skills and software knowledge including Microsoft Office (specifically Excel) and Outlook (email), Brix/Hyphen a plus but not required
• Ability to read and comprehend detailed construction blueprints, specifications, and detailed development drawings

Experience/Education:

• Minimum of 5-Years prior experience in the Purchasing Department within the homebuilding industry
• College degree
• Minimum of 10-Years prior Homebuilding experience is mandatory, either with a builder or large supplier
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel

Other Requirements

• Cell phone with data package
• Minimal travel required; must own or lease a vehicle and have a valid driver’s license with insurance coverage
