Purchasing Manager

Summary:
  • Develops and executes supply chain risk management strategy and execution.
  • Negotiates pricing and issues “spot buy: PO’s and material releases per materials requirements planning.
  • Responsible for on-time delivery of purchased materials.
  • Optimizes inventory levels, acts pro-actively to expedites orders, and ensures parts are delivered on-time.
  • Provide Analytical DATA reporting to VP SCM, and Cooperate
  • Supplier on-time delivery, PPV, achieving inventory level goals, Supply Chain Risk Management plan.
  • Meet company inventory and cash flow targets
Principal Accountabilities (Functional)
  • Responsible for managing product cost, ECN implementation and tactical purchasing planning and execution consistent with business objectives for all material and services.
  • Reduction of costs in specific areas, sourcing vendors for new products, coordination of projects, etc.
  • Utilizes enterprise tools and conduct analyses to ensure planned material requirements balance inventory, lead-time, price and quality factors.
  • Performs review of all aspects of simple bids, requests for quotes and proposals as summarized by buyers.
  • Investigates and develops new supply sources as appropriate, staying abreast of trends and innovations in associated commodity areas.
Principal Accountabilities (General Supervisory)
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work related problems.
  • Interprets company policies to employees and enforces all safety regulations.
  • Develops workforce planning and utilization programs to satisfy actual and projected requirements.
  • Performs other job related duties as required.
  • Implements cross-training activities and plans for employees under his/her direction with specific attention toward the development of a highly flexible work force.
  • Establishes and implements team/individual Critical Success Factors, including the measurement and documentation of the progress of each employee toward the established goals.
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable State and Federal laws, including interviewing, hiring, training employees, planning, directing work and appraising performance.
  • Assures efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement of methods, and elimination of wasteful practices within the department; may include budget development and control.
Minimum Requirements
  • Import/Export compliance experience.
  • CPM or CPIM Desirable.
  • BS in Management – Manufacturing – Global business or other related degree; MBA preferable
  • ERP experience; SAP strongly preferred.
Responsibility for Quality Procedures or Direct Product Quality
  • Adheres to Universal Quality System policies and procedures and uses Total Cycle Time principles and standard problem-solving tools to continuously improve work processes.
Physical Demands
  • Requires the ability to use a computer on a frequent basis.
  • Remaining stationary for extended periods, but needs to be mobile enough to navigate through work areas.
  • Requires the ability to communicate clearly in giving presentations.
