Job Description
Polish your skills and make a difference as a proofreader
Do you have an eagle eye for catching typos, grammatical errors, and inconsistencies in text? Are you a stickler for details and passionate about maintaining high-quality standards in written content? Are you known as the grammar police among friends? Our Academic Product Creation team needs you! We are looking for a detail-oriented Proofreader contractor to ensure accuracy in various materials. Your passion for proper grammar and sharp eye for errors will be invaluable as you navigate online platforms in development, testing the user experience, and reporting any issues.
This is a 1099 contractor engagement that is projected to involve 1-5 hours of contribution per week with more hours based on availability. As a Proofreader contractor, you will ensure the accuracy and consistency of educational materials across various online platforms.
As a Proofreader Contractor You Will
  • Revise work as needed to meet assignment requirements
  • Test the user experience of online platforms in development, including self-guided lessons and practice tests
  • Collaborate with the Managing Editor on deadlines, feedback, and work progress updates
  • Ensure consistency of style in all produced content
  • Report issues accurately and according to guidelines using a ticketing system
  • Proofread and compare question items, lesson chapters, and other online content

Requirements
  • Test-prep experience, high standardized test scores, and an education background preferred
  • Deep belief in the potential of all students and a passion for MasteryPrep’s mission
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong command of English grammar and ability to accurately describe errors and changes
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and consistently produce quality work with a prompt turnaround time of 1-2 calendar days
  • Math content expertise is a plus
  • Reliable internet connection
  • Proficient in essential tools, including Zoom, Slack, Microsoft Office Suite, Dropbox, Adobe Acrobat, and screen-capture/ recording software
  • Experience in quality assurance, user testing, or other quality control positions are preferred
  • Respect for individuals' diverse experiences and the ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds
Compensation
This is a 1099 contract position. All contractors will be paid by assignment and only upon completion. Assignments are compensated at a rate of $25/hour by assignment completion.
