Position:


The Project Manager will manage electrical utility project(s) and can include high voltage transmission, distribution, and substation construction and maintenance. Individual will be in charge of planning, direct, or coordinating, usually through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems. Participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling, budgeting, staffing, subcontractors, safety, quality, and implementation.


  • This job posting is specific to the construction of a 500kV transmission line. Main office locations will be Reno and Las Vegas Nevada. Other field offices will be located throughout the project.


Responsibilities:


  • Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Select, contract, and oversee workers who complete specific pieces of the project, such as site restoration.
  • Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.
  • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients, representing the owner or developer.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, or design professionals to discuss and resolve matters, such as work procedures, complaints, or construction problems.
  • Contract and Change Order Management though out the project.
  • Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site.
  • Oversee Material management staff, QA/QC staff, Subcontractors, Office staff, Environmental Staff, schedulers, and safety needs.
  • Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines.
  • Plan, organize, or direct activities concerned with the construction or maintenance of structures, facilities, or systems.
  • Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, or cost tracking reports.
  • Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, project specifications, environmental restrictions, or other regulations.


Qualifications:


  • Must pass mandatory drug and alcohol screening(s).
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or equivalent experience. (Civil Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer)
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, and applicable Engineering programs.
  • Familiarity with critical path scheduling and Primavera P6.
  • 10+ years of experience managing construction of at least three (3) EHV substation or transmission project of similar size and scope.
  • Project management professional certification preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience managing at least three (3) extra high voltage (“EHV”) substation or transmission construction projects of similar size and scope.
  • Good Written and oral communication.
