Job Description

Job Title: Project Manager

Department: Operations

Reports to: COO

Location: Preference for Louisville, KY based, but not required

Effective Date: 9/01/2023


Job Summary:


The Project Manager is responsible for managing special cross-departmental projects from end to end and implementing project management best practices to ensure success. This position works closely with senior management to ensure that projects align with the organization's overall strategy and goals. The Project Manager will work with all relevant stakeholders - both internal and external - to identify key success metrics for each project, develop and communicate the project plan, and help guide cross-functional project teams. Utilizes appropriate tools to plan project timelines, tasks, milestones, and deadlines. Communicates schedule and changes to all stakeholders. Plans and facilitates project meetings to align the project team to methods and goals and to track project tasks. Prepares agendas, meeting notes, and project summaries. Monitors task completion status to identify at risk project tasks and to develop mitigation plans. Allocates resources, budgets, and hours to the project and adjusts allocations when necessary.


Duties/Responsibilities:


  1. Overseeing the management and coordination of complex projects from planning through delivery.
  2. Ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.
  3. Communicating with senior management and stakeholders to report on the progress, issues and risks associated with special projects.
  4. Developing resource recommendations, including personnel and budget, for special projects.
  5. Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, team members, executive sponsors, and external vendors.
  6. Applying project management best practices and helping embed effective project management within the organization by providing guidance and support to project teams.


Required Skills/Abilities:


  • Effective interpersonal management skills and the ability to work through and with other people to accomplish a shared goal.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to think strategically and make decisions under pressure.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • 3+ years' experience in program or project management.


Education and Experience:


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree and PMP certification are preferred.


Physical Requirements:


  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
