Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Project Engineer with project management and engineering support for the corporate project management team in the Oil & Gas Industry to join our team!
Role Summary:
Provide safe, environmentally sound, reliable and cost effective project engineering for pipeline and terminal construction projects through planning, developing, estimates, execution, commissioning and closeout phases. The position is a support role to the overall project manager and responsibilities will be concentrated on the technical aspects of the project. Engineering on projects will be provided by 3rd party engineering firms specializing in pipeline and terminal projects with oversight provided by the Project engineer.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions include:
- Assist with development and application of new project management, project engineering and technical procedures and templates.
- Assist with closing projects per guidelines, and ensures proper documentation of files, records, databases, and drawings to meet regulatory and Buckeye requirements.
- Work with different Project Managers to support the engineering efforts of various projects.
- Complete lessons learned reviews for completed projects to improve work practices.
- Construction QA/QC - Work with construction teams to ensure that all technical and - engineering requirements are met. –
- Follows through to ensure that Operations achieves a successful project startup, and that any project-related action items are completed.
- Complete technical interactions with third party engineering companies as part of the project team. This will include interaction with Buckeye’s Central Engineering Department, Buckeye Subject Matter Experts and other teams within Buckeye.
- Work with both Development & Logistics and Operations to evaluate and obtain approval of project scopes -, budgets, and/or schedules. Complete required documentation of changes using the following: (1) Engineering Change Orders, (2) Construction Change Orders.
- Support development of project scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, work plans, and resource requirements (i.e., personnel, contractors, etc.) as part of the initiation and planning phases (i.e., prior to AFE approval) of the project life cycle.
- Plan and organize downtime, startup and commissioning with Operations, the Control Center, and other functional departments.
- Work with internal Buckeye teams to get projects and designs reviewed.
- Support Project Managers in preparing feasibility studies- -.
- Ensure projects are - adhering to Buckeye engineering standards and industry standards.
Position Requirements:
- Travel Requirements: Travel 30% to 50%.
- - Experience in proposal & bid package preparation and responses -.
- Experience: 5+ years combined experience in Project Management and Engineering in Midstream or other related industry required.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- Experience within the petrochemical marketplace.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office, and applicable project management software.
Certificates & Licenses:
- PE/EIT registration desirable.

- Excellent communication - skills are required (both written and oral).
- The individual must have the ability to work in a fast paced, high stress environment in order to effectively handle the multiple tasks of the job.
- In order to succeed in this position, the individual must be a self-starter and have excellent communication and analytical skills and the ability to interact with a wide variety of personnel and organizations.
- Must have the ability to maintain and establish positive working relationships with all company departments.
Essential Functions:
- This position requires the ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or/quantitative productivity standards.

- This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Physical & Safety Requirements:
- Travel involved to field facilities for investigative purposes, and for equipment and system commissioning. Field travel involves ambulatory activity and visual information gathering.
- Normal office environment.
