Project Engineer Jobs

The Project Engineer II is a customer-facing, consulting engineer for clients involved with residential and commercial construction. They perform forensic inspections of existing structures to identify structural issues, perform root-cause analysis, specify functional repairs, and articulate concerns to clients who range in their familiarity with construction knowledge.The goal of a Project Engineer II is to master the intermediate technical abilities listed below and to influence the team environment by helping to develop new engineer team members.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform a wide range of field inspections congruent with the “Project Engineer II” tier, which include projects similar to the following examples:
Drywall cracks/uneven floors.
Unpermitted screened-in porches.
Deteriorated floor framing.
Broken roof trusses/modified roof trusses.
Wall removals.
Certifications of completed work.
Localized damage from disastrous events (tree impacts, car impacts, fires, etc).
Successfully manage client questions in real-time consultation situations.
Support ongoing projects by analyzing proposed construction alternatives, responding to RFIs, and clearly communicating options to contractors.
Accurately price engineering fees for all new projects within the Project Engineer I tier.
Calculate structural loads per the NC Building Code, IBC, and other codes as required.
Prepare structural calculations, specifications, and detailed construction documents for structural systems.
Develop high-quality client deliverables within committed turnaround times.
Analyze structures using various structural engineering software including Enercalc, RetainPro, and RISA 2D/3D.
Continually improve design materials, spreadsheets, standard operating procedures, etc.
Work alongside and support other team members so all division work is completed in a timely manner.
