Position Summary: Project Engineer

The safety and health of employees take precedence over any other duties of this position.

Is a role model for TQM practices displayed by the use of TQM tools in the everyday performance of responsibilities and in dealing with others.

Under minimal supervision is responsible for conceiving, developing, implementing, and procedures. Is responsible for entire engineering projects including documentation, parts selection and specification, construction, debugging, installation and (internal) customer interface as well as all aspects of project management. Interfaces with division management on strategic technical issues.

Promotes safety at work and in all facets of employment.

keeps up a working understanding of Sonoco's equipment, procedures, and goods.

oversees the technicians, designers, and drafters assigned to his projects. obtains outside resources as necessary to carry out project objectives.

Whenever necessary, coordinates projects with other departments.

Builds original equipment using fundamental study and experimentation; designs complex processes and equipment and oversees construction, debugging, and installation. initiates initiatives for novel or improved goods and procedures.

visits vendors or branch plants as necessary to complete project goals.

Regarding project proposals, creates cost and schedule estimates for new or upgraded machines. creates a project plan for initiatives that are proposed. carries out all areas of project management (budget and schedule control, status reporting, customer interface, performance to design objectives, etc.) as the project leader of given projects.

maintains a high level of expertise in project management, product, process, and mechanical development by outside reading, technical courses, etc.

maintains and develops advanced computer abilities (such as project management, word processing, spreadsheets, and AutoCAD).

creates technical reports and keeps records. keeps an engineering journal to safeguard proprietary information.

Develops suggestions for new equipment, processes, and products that can increase safety or give you a competitive edge. may take part in strategic planning for corporate units or decisions.

possesses a solid working knowledge of Sonoco procedures, ER&D Department operations, and is acquainted with important technical figures within the company. He could be given a fresh engineer or designer to work with during the job's orientation and learning period.

as necessary, closely collaborates with manufacturing staff, division managers, marketing, and other disciplines.

Preferred Education: Project Engineer
