Job Description
Position Summary


The scope of this job is to support the ANSI International Policy Department in the administration and implementation of ANSI’s international projects and development programs, principally in the geographic region of the Americas, but may include other regions as appropriate. This includes managing the implementation of donor-funded grants and contracts, particularly in the regions of focus, in concert with ANSI's international policy objectives. It also includes interfacing with regional organizations and their national member bodies, and preparing and enabling ANSI staff and members to represent the interests of the U.S. voluntary standardization community in these fora.


Essential Functions


  • Performs other duties and carries out special projects as necessary.
  • Monitors international and multilateral trade and standardization policy activities (particularly in regions of focus) and works to align ANSI policies and activities with them.
  • Communicates significant developments in assigned program areas to appropriate ANSI membership and staff, including the creation of reports and news items for presentation on ANSI’s various media.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of activities and developments in the assigned program areas.
  • Manages the administration and implementation of several international develop projects; including recruiting participants, leading organization of projects, workshops, including virtual/hybrid events, communication with ANSI members and potential participants, drafting of project reports and other deliverables, and other activities as needed.
  • Serves as a liaison and works closely with program sponsors, cross-functional teams, and assigned project managers to plan and develop project scope, deliverables, required resources, work plans, budget, and timing for new initiatives.
  • Assists the department in the acquisition, administration, and implementation of government contracts and grants through various U.S. aid agencies, to increase the generation and growth of new revenue opportunities.
  • Working with the Senior Director, International Development, liaises with host country organizations towards the development of work plans, organization of activities, and feedback.
  • Maintain relationships with private sector organizations and U.S. government agencies with a regional and bilateral impact on issues relating to standards and conformance to further ANSI member goals as expressed in the United States Standards Strategy.
  • Develops and delivers presentations, reports or other special projects related to international, regional, and bilateral policy matters.


Information Security Responsibilities


  • Read and adhere to published ISMS policies and procedures.
  • Attend/complete assigned information security training by the designated completion date.
  • Report timely any observed violations of ISMS policy - or known encroachments on information security - to your department leader and/or the Information Technology Department.


Education And Experience


  • Six or more years of related work experience, preferably in the fields of international relations or international development
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; further study in a development or trade policy field a plus.


Other Qualifications


  • Must be able to exercise discretion and solid judgment when operating in highly political environments.
  • Knowledge of international, regional and bilateral trade and standardization policy issues and positions a plus.
  • Proven business development and/or fundraising experience a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Windows and Office applications: (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint) and virtual meeting platforms (Cisco Webex, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meetings)
  • Project management experience; Project Management Professional (PMP) certification a plus
  • Written and oral Spanish language communication skills, demonstrated by a proficiency test or evaluation. Fluency in another language a plus.
  • Team player with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Position will require international travel.
  • International experience (either studying or working) strongly preferred, particularly in the Americas
  • Must possess outstanding written and oral communication skills.
