- Performs semi-structured diagnostic interviews relevant to ongoing investigatory activities of the CPHG , independently or as assigned. Independently follows research protocols including administering study consent, study diagnostic instruments, providing compensation to participants and recording all data in the study database. Is responsible for maintenance, filing and other administrative duties for participants enrolled, consistent with research protocols.
- Supports Principal Investigators in ongoing review and optimization of study protocols and clinical instruments and assessments. Participates as part of the enrollment team to establish diagnostic validity and reliability standards for the use of psychiatric diagnostic instruments, including the Diagnostic Instrument for Psychosis and Affective Disorders ( DIPAD ). Oversees study protocols, analyzing study data and preparing final reports for funding agency.
- Participates in and leads both on-site and off-site community engagement and study recruitment activities, and maintains and/or develops networking and community relationships in the Rutgers University health catchment areas. Designs recruitment activities to maximize access to potential participants, which may involve irregular work scheduling to match community needs and availability, requiring occasional evening and weekend work and off-site travel.
- Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in Rutgers’ Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
- Guides CPHG research projects’ human subjects’ compliance activities, including required trainings and reporting, management of IRB submissions, etc. Maintains confidential participant records, and ensures that records are always secured and that studies are HIPAA and IRB compliant.
- Supports human subjects research participant cohort database management and analysis, including access, use, and analysis by CPHG faculty, trainees, students, and academic partners.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Serves as Project Manager on specified extramurally sponsored projects. Provides oversight of ascertainment and assessment teams that recruit and conduct structured diagnostic interviews of clinical research study participants. Assists with the instructing and training of lower-level study raters, recruiters and phlebotomists to develop the skills necessary to perform the required functions.
- Master’s Degree in a relevant science (psychology, social work, etc.) plus two (2) years of related research experience preferred, or a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant science plus three (3) years of related research experience.
- Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in complex data management and analysis ( SPSS , SAS , etc.) in a biomedical research setting.
- Bilingual+ English/Spanish and experience in the diverse ethnic communities in New Jersey.
- Pre-existing community relationships in the Rutgers University health catchment area, and/or ties with groups who face additional barriers accessing healthcare and social services, and/or have demonstrated such expertise in a similar setting in past professional activities.
- Work Environment: Office environment. Off-site field environment (events, healthcare facilities, etc.). Moderate noise.
- Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking, hearing, and driving. No special vision requirements. Must be able to lift or exert up to 25 pounds.
- Must have access to personal transportation to conduct field activities.
