SecondMuse champions and supports the growth of future economies by designing and leading programs that involve workshops, events, mentorship networks, curriculum, and other efforts to build and grow community ecosystems. At the core of our community-sourced approach is a dedication to creating and fostering cohesive narratives and deep relationships throughout the ecosystem. We have organized innovation programs in over 100 countries and 250 cities, sourcing solutions worldwide. Each program has challenged our teams to develop targeted approaches to find and then support visionary leaders with a diverse range of experiences, motivations and cultures. We invite you to help build with us--leverage our proven strategies to build strong communities and influence local, regional and global networks, and add your own contribution to our growing team and portfolio of programs.

The Opportunity

SecondMuse is seeking a Program Manager for Headstream, a national effort that over the last five years has driven the increased utilization of digital innovations in social tech, health, and education systems to support the mental wellbeing of young people. We have supported entrepreneurs through the Headstream Accelerator to reach more than 10 million youth and caring adults with an emphasis on building culturally competent products for LGBTQIA+, Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and other youth at the intersection of these identities.

This Headstream Program Manager will be responsible for the implementation of the annual Headstream Accelerator: our flagship program supporting 15 early-stage startups in the digital health, ed-tech, and social tech sectors to build culturally competent youth digital mental wellbeing products.

As a candidate for this role, you are passionate about supporting entrepreneurs to develop impactful businesses. Addressing the systemic barriers that exist for many BIPOC, female identifying, and first time founders is a challenge that excites you. You are a community and partner builder, skilled at engaging with stakeholders such as investors, health care payers and providers, government officials, academics, and youth practitioners who are critical collaborators for the Accelerator participants. The candidate will have experience working with innovation programs or startups and comfortable designing and facilitating workshops for entrepreneurs in the health tech, edtech, and social tech sectors.

You’ll be part of a team with a powerful voice to shape this iteration of Headstream as well as the future of the program. We will build the space and hope you will fill it with your experience, ideas, analysis, and creativity.

Work Environment

This is a full-time remote position. Flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee’s schedule must overlap with core work hours and must be able to take and hold meetings across time zones. We are currently a fully remote team with members in Oakland, Portland, San Diego, and New York City. Occasional evening work may be required due to the national scope. This role may require periodic domestic travel. The candidate must be comfortable working in a mid-sized organization where initiative, fresh ideas, collaboration and commitment are valued and rewarded.

Essential Functions

  • Manage the implementation of the Accelerator with the support of Headstream’s Senior Program Manager and working closely with the Program Manager for Youth Programming
  • As we expand our community, you will focus on building our engagement with stakeholders in the health care, education, and investment space. This includes outreach, leading meetings, and supporting collaboration opportunities
  • Recruit critical stakeholders for the implementation of the Accelerator such as funders, health care payers and providers, government officials, academics, and youth practitioners to serve as program advisors and potential accelerator company investors and customers.
  • Uphold our anti-racist commitments and work alongside us to ensure that we are building inclusive and youth-centered initiatives that strive for justice
  • Facilitate workshops for entrepreneurs in Headstream programming and events that bring together community stakeholders, such as potential customers and funders, with program participants.
  • Support participating entrepreneurs as they go through the Accelerator programming
  • Lead curriculum design and implementation around a core set of themes that will support entrepreneurs with identifying their business model, finding the value prop for their impact driven business, and ensuring their own wellbeing.

Expectations

  • Growth of Headstream’s network of partners and collaborators, expanding our ability to influence health and education systems
  • Effectively collaborate with the Senior Program Manager and other Headstream team members to advance strategic objectives and client relationships
  • Implementation of high-quality programs that exceed program participant (entrepreneurs and youth) expectations and achieve success as defined internally.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting or working for startups. This could include past professional experience leading an innovation program similar to Headstream, being a part of a startup, or experience as a founder.
  • Self-motivated and action/solution-oriented
  • Track record of effectively leading programs or projects with an unwavering commitment to quality and the ability to quickly adapt. You are comfortable managing multiple tasks simultaneously
  • You have experience or are passionate about supporting solutions for Black, Indigenous, Latinx, LGBTQIA+, and multi-hyphenated youth
  • A persuasive and passionate communicator. You have experience facilitating and leading workshops for program participants and community stakeholders
  • Energized by the creativity needed to navigate complex and ambiguous environments that are constantly evolving
  • Ability to communicate across different sectors and groups effectively, a thoughtful listener with a willingness to seek and consider multiple perspectives and possible solutions.
  • Works well in a participatory, team-based environment with an appreciation for teamwork and the consistent rhythm of feedback that’s required to do exceptional work
  • You have experience and are comfortable managing short-term contractors who will support the implementation of the Accelerator
  • 5+ years experience in ed-tech and/or digital health markets with interest in working with impact-driven entrepreneurs to scale their solutions within these markets. Experience working with school districts, health care payers and providers, and investors is a plus

Benefits

  • Generous paid parental leave programs for all new parents
  • Starting annual salary of $78,000
  • Paid time to participate in volunteer activities that enhance and serve our communities
