THE OPPORTUNITY

Under the Program Director’s supervision, the Program Manager is responsible for managing and supervising the agency's Emergency shelter, Mariposa House, which provides refuge to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and their children. The position involves supporting all eligible participants to the shelter program and providing supportive services to promote participants' self-sufficiency, integration into the community, performing administrative tasks involved in the review and maintenance of the shelter facility, and reviewing a caseload of program participants. Additionally, this position works collaboratively with the 24-hour response, Crisis Intervention, Child and Youth and Housing programs.

• You havea bachelor’s degree in human services( or related field) plus one year of related work experience and or five years progressive experience. experience.

• You have knowledge and experience of the principles of personnel supervision and training. You have demonstrated the ability to motivate and coordinate the efforts of others in a positive manner.

• You have knowledge and experience with planning and program development and collaboration You have an acute attention to detail and experience with data collection, record keeping and budgeting, and an ability to produce required reports to federal, state. and local government agencies and funding sources.

  • You have the ability to work a flexible schedule and provide support to staff during evening and weekend hours.

• You have knowledge of intimate partner violence, sexual assault and community services.

  • You have demonstrated experience in exercising excellent judgment and handling and protecting confidential and sensitive information.

• You have knowledge or experience working with facilities and/or housing services.

You have knowledge of Santa Cruz County community resources, and social service agencies and positive working relationships with community-based organizations


SKILLS

• Fluency in English and Spanish is required. • Excellent communication skills, particularly listening, mediation, and writing skills. • You need to be able to work in a flexible, fast-paced environment. • You have a sense of humor and demonstrate grace under pressure. • Possess strong organizational skills with ability to meet a demanding workload. • Detail oriented to complete requirements of files, accurate record, reports and contract compliance. • Creative thinker/adaptive personality. • Sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of population served. • The ability to establish and set appropriate limits with persons served to help them gain skills and confidence. • The ability to work collaboratively with other staff members and/or service providers or professionals. • The ability to maintain a role to empower clients and staff and to intervene appropriately to meet service goals. • Ability to evaluate program, community, and client needs. • Ability to make independent judgments and work independently with minimal supervision. • Ability to work with people of diverse ethnic, cultural, religious, socio-economic, sexual and political orientations. • Working knowledge of personal computer, experience with MS office software including Word and outlook. • You can embrace change and are innovative.


WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • You will participate in the training and supervision of interns and volunteers.
  • You will oversee documentation of services and prepare written program reports.
  • You will implement all shelter program procedures and protocols.
  • You will maintain clear and concise client files and records and assist in gathering statistical information in compliance with funding requirements.
  • You will serve as Monarchs Services representative at public meetings and committees as assigned.
  • You will provide services to survivors of domestic violence,sexual assault and human trafficking including crisis intervention, intake/assessment, peer counseling and legal information, assistance with restraining order filings, advocacy and referrals.
  • You will maintain and strengthen relationships with community agencies that provide services to domestic violence survivors and their children.
  • You will supervise staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and, when necessary, disciplinary action and/or termination of employment.
  • Other duties related to the specific classification as assigned.
  • You will maintain accurate daily records, monthly outcome reports, and files for each client.
  • You will participate in monitoring and administering the program budget.
  • You will develop and maintain program specific materials.
  • You will manage all aspects of the emergency residential shelter, including scheduling staffing, oversight of operations, general facility maintenance, and purchase of food and supplies.
  • You will conduct presentations to the public, Board of Directors, and other groups as requested.
  • You will make recommendations and implement improvements of the program.
  • You will provide back-up coverage to staff on assigned weekends and evenings.
  • You will participate as a member of the agency’s leadership team.
  • You will attend staff meetings, training sessions, supervision, leadership meetings and other meetings as required.
  • You will complete a State-Certified Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Peer Counselor Training and maintain Peer Counselor certification by completing continuing education requirements.
