The Team


The Corporate & Executive Learning team within the D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University serves a large, multifaceted global audience of executives and professionals.


The practice serves to provide evidence-based, best-in-class learning experiences to corporate clients at all levels of their organizations; from front-line employees to C-suite executives. Programs are designed and delivered in all modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, and live virtual / online) using advanced experiential learning methods and platforms. Learners receive non-degree certificates, badges, and other non-credit bearing micro credentials.

The Opportunity


The Program Manager is an essential member of the Corporate and Executive Learning team, who plays a vital role in delivering operational excellence for client-based customized programs. The Program Manager will interact directly with the global companies within the Northeastern corporate partner ecosystem that support talent development of executives and professionals.


The Program Manager has a diverse set of responsibilities including (but not limited to), ensuring effective development and delivery of executive education programs, management of program logistics, data analysis and reporting, and relationship management for all involved stakeholders Project management capability is critical to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and entities. The Program Manager must be flexible and responsive to changing demands and circumstances, self-directed, and an effective member of a team. The ideal candidate will maintain collaborative working relationships with stakeholders both domestic and international, all levels of faulty and possess the ability to effectively interact with university-based cross functional departments.


Reporting to the Associate Director, the Program Manager at times may also need to work with several different directors depending on the project/program assigned. The combination of in person, hybrid and live virtual programming requires on campus attendance as the program model demands. Live virtual sessions can be performed in a remote setting as the hours of running may run outside of the normal 9 – 5 business day.


As a hybrid position, the candidate is expected to balance working and attending meetings on-campus, and having an on-campus presence, with working remote, in coordination with their manager.


Responsibilities


The Program Manager role will include but is not limited to the workstreams outlined below to collaborate with the Associate Director and other team members to coordinate, manage and administer the timely execution of corporate learning programs and projects.


Project Management (60%)


Support the Associate Director or lead project director and other team members to coordinate, manage and administer the timely execution of corporate learning programs and projects.


  • Work with faculty and staff to develop corporate learning program materials and assets.
  • Independently responsible for project-based prioritization to meet program deadlines for multiple programs simultaneously.
  • Conduct research and analysis of operational facets of in-person programs (e.g., classroom space, catering, travel and accommodations, etc.).
  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiating terms as needed.
  • Analyze and report on project health with recommendations to the lead project Director to increase efficiency and effectiveness of processes.
  • Work with vendors locally and internationally for venue set up, program dinners and social events, transportation for site visits and any other tasks relating to program delivery both locally in the US as well as international settings.
  • Utilize technology to streamline delivery of program deliverables including database management and online applications.
  • Identify and schedule deliverables, milestones and required tasks for each stage of a program development cycle.
  • Ensure that internal and external stakeholders are kept up to date on progress and meeting expected deadlines to support program development.
  • Arrange for travel accommodations for local and international travel.
  • Delegate tasks to graduate program assistants and manage related workflows.


Program Management: (25%)


  • Maintain accurate and complete program documentation (including delivery schedules) on all assigned programs, to ensure smooth delivery of future programs.
  • Develop and disseminate regular communications to participants and other stakeholder groups for assigned programs.
  • Assist in the creation of general program materials to aid in marketing to future participants, curriculum development, etc.
  • Manage “on-site” program coordination for live virtual/online, on-campus or off-site program implementations (travel may be required).
  • Prepare and manage evaluations and program status reports.
  • Prepare faculty payroll, invoices, and expenses for assigned programs.
  • Support the maintenance and monitoring of budgets for assigned programs.


Stakeholder Collaboration: (10%)


  • Maintain highest level of customer service and response to stakeholder needs.
  • Regularly attend meetings with faculty and clients as needed for program and project success.
  • Collaborate to create meeting agendas and document follow-up tasks.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with faculty, clients, participants, venue staff and vendors.
  • Organize and prepare materials to support reporting, proposal submission, and client development.


General Team and Department Support: (5%)


  • Develop and maintain templates and manuals for program implementation.
  • Take-on other projects assigned by the Associate Director to build capacity and contribute to the Program Manager’s professional development.
  • Contribute to the department’s strategic planning activities.
  • Support the hiring and onboarding process for graduate program assistants and other team members.


Qualifications


Required


  • Be able to travel locally and internationally as the program deliveries require.
  • Strong ability to interact with various faculty and university administrators
  • Ability to prepare and handle confidential documents and sensitive information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products such as Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Teams, and as well as the ability to quickly learn new software and web-based programs.
  • Must be flexible and have the willingness to work early mornings and evenings both on and off campus locations – as needed.
  • Ability to work independently, coordinating, and prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously while exercising sound judgment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business administration or any related fields
  • 3+ years of experience as a project, program, and/or event manager working on executive education, launching new initiatives, and/or large-scale programs.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to form and operationalize short- and long-term program and project plans.


Preferred


  • Experience in project management strategies and tools (e.g., Smartsheets).
  • Higher education or adult learning experience.
  • Proficiency in design and revision of high-quality program materials, including use of Articulate Rise, Canvas or H5P all used in the practice.
  • Fluency & comfort managing and working in a live virtual classroom setting.
