Job Description
Position Overview

The Program Coordinator, under the general direction of Director of Prevention and Early Intervention Services, will provide expertise in the area of primary prevention. The Program Coordinator will evaluate program quality, train staff, and implement a quality improvement system across all sites. The Program Coordinator will develop and sustain collaborative partnerships with statewide agencies and organizations to further the goal of prevention and early intervention services.

Summary of Job Duties

Promote evidence-based school and community-based prevention programs/strategies to local education agencies.

Partner with community groups to raise awareness of and decrease bullying; provide counseling and assistance to schools on alcohol and drug prevention strategies. Provide consultation/technical assistance to individuals and local education agencies on issues of safe and healthy school practices and prevention related to alcohol, drug, violence, bullying and healthy school climate. Respond to inquiries for information. Identify/prepare funding applications for eligible prevention services.

Review contract agencies/providers to ensure progress and advancement of ADAMHS initiatives. Provide oversight for invoice process; conduct provider site visits and monitor providers to ensure compliance with funding guidelines and accountability of services provided.

Maintain program records and prepare high quality reports as required.

Represent agency at related partner agency councils/committees.

Perform other related work as required and assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Health, Public Administration, Social Work, Public Health, or other related field (master’s degree preferred) AND 3-5 years of experience in implementation and evaluation of prevention programs. Must have a valid driver’s license, insurance, and an operational vehicle.

Knowledge:
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the concepts of public health
  • Awareness and respect for audiences and partners representing diverse populations.
  • Skills in writing, communication, analytical skills, public speaking, and training
  • Demonstrated experience in research and education.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of prevention, social change concepts and community development.
  • This position requires an individual with great vision and understanding of primary prevention, strategic planning, and local level program development.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point or the ability to become proficient with training.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of program evaluation methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of grant writing and reporting.

Abilities:
  • Ability to travel, which may be frequent and may include travel outside of the Dayton area.
  • Ability to interpret and respond to complex situations and provide clear, concise, and timely solutions.
  • Ability to conceptualize, implement and evaluate new projects.
  • Ability to develop strong collaborative relationships statewide.

Must be tobacco free.

Seasonal Employees: Benefits include Sick Leave accrued at 4.6 hours for every eighty 80 hours in active
pay status. Seasonal employees scheduled to work 40 hours during their period of employment will accrue vacation in the same manner as regular full-time employees and can use their vacation after completion of twenty-six (26) bi-weekly pay periods in active pay status. Part-time Seasonal employees (scheduled to work less than 40 hours) do not accrue vacation.
Intermittent and Temporary Employees: Long-Term Sick Leave accrual is based on hours worked.
