Job Overview:
The Program Coordinator, Community Engagement & Sponsorship coordinates programming that serves refugees, asylum seekers and other newcomers. The Program Coordinator’s primary roles will focus on managing various communication channels, supporting community engagement and community sponsorship efforts, and facilitating the creation and organization of tools and resources. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for drafting newsletters, updating intranet pages, conducting research, coordinating partner services, and providing programmatic support including tracking, logistical and administrative work. The Program Coordinator for Community Engagement and Sponsorship will work in close collaboration with the Community Engagement Program Officers, Community Sponsorship Program Officer, and other program officers on the Resettlement team.


Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Research, outreach, and engagement with community-based organizations:

  • Assist in scheduling and coordinating services from partner organizations by collaborating with field offices to identify and schedule services provided by partner organizations, such as workshops, support groups, and training videos. Assist offices with the coordination of logistical aspects, including venue selection, transportation, and participation tracking. Serve as a point of contact for partner organizations, ensuring smooth communication and coordination.
  • Track engagement with community-based organizations, maintaining a record of interactions and outcomes.
  • Initiate and maintain outreach efforts to establish and cultivate relationships with these organizations, fostering partnerships and collaboration.
  • Regularly communicate and provide updates to internal stakeholders regarding ongoing partnerships and engagement activities.
  • Conduct research to identify ethnic community-based organizations that serve client populations and other national organizations aligned with the IRC's mission.

Support the development and delivery of community engagement resources:

  • Collaborate with the team to develop training materials, flyers, presentations, and other resources to support community engagement and sponsorship initiatives.
  • Coordinate the delivery and distribution of resources to field offices, ensuring timely access and utilization.
  • Assist in creating engaging and informative content that resonates with target audiences.

Coordinate communication channels

  • Update and organize team intranet pages (RescueNet) and other resources.
  • Collaborate with internal programs and external partners to gather relevant content and ensure its timely inclusion in newsletters. Draft engaging and informative newsletters that align with the organization's messaging and brand guidelines. Implement distribution strategies to reach target audiences effectively.

Other duties as assigned:

  • Support data and feedback collection for reporting purposes.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the community sponsorship and community engagement team by assisting with ad-hoc tasks and projects as needed.


Job Requirements:

Education: bachelor’s degree required.


Work Experience:

  • Demonstrated command of databases, MS Excel, and evidence-based decision-making.
  • Relevant professional experience in the human services field required; a minimum of two to three years of experience is strongly preferred.


Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Strong relationship-building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written; proficiency in language(s) spoken by client group is desired.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook), ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes.
  • Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multicultural environment.


Working Environment:

  • May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
  • Occasional domestic (non-local) travel required; up to 10%.
  • Remote work.

Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
