Position Summary
This position is responsible for assisting teaching staff in carrying out group and individual activities in the early childhood development program. Performs under the direction of the Center Coordinator or classroom lead to ensure program operations are carried out in a manner supportive of DCP goals and intended program outcomes. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Other duties as determined by the Center Coordinator or Teacher.
  • Assists in handling special care concerns relating to preschoolers as directed.
  • Becomes familiar with the physical, intellectual, social and emotional characteristics of individual children.
  • Guides children through daily routines, creating a safe, healthy environment while providing experiences that build childrens enthusiasm and self-esteem for learning.
  • Participates in basic nutrition and sanitation activities as directed.
  • Assists staff in involving parents in the program and participates in parent involvement activities when appropriate.
  • Supports center staff in all center activities
  • Participates in curriculum development as directed.
  • Shares janitorial duties with other staff.
Additional For Program Aide II
  • Supervising small groups of students in a center-based program.
  • Providing instruction or program modifications to children identified with developmental disabilities under the direction of a teacher
  • Review and reinforce learning previously introduced by the teacher(s)
  • Introducing new learning, pre-planned in collaboration with a Special Education Teacher and/or Disability Services Manager.
  • Conducting one-on-one or small groups with indirect professional supervision
Maintains strict confidentiality in regards to children, families, and staff in accordance with established policies and procedures. Must be flexible and able to work with and maintain positive relationships with multiple staff members. Knowledge of computerized data base systems and Microsoft Office, budgets, and budgeting systems. Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills; strong written and verbal communication skills.

Requires moving furniture about and sweeping/mopping floors regularly.

Required Education
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED FOR POSITION:
The Program Aide must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school dip oma or equivalent. Some experience working with groups of young children required. Program Aide II must have DOE Ed. Tech III certification.
Must be able to pass background checks.
