Covia is looking for a dynamic Production Supervisor who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at its Crane, TX location. As a Production Supervisor, you will report to the Plant Operations Manager and will directly supervise the production and shipping operations to ensure that output is maximized at the lowest cost while maintaining safety and quality requirements.
The Successful Incumbent Will Have The Following Key Accountabilities
  • Maintain open communications with subordinates and superiors, both orally and by written reports.
  • Accept personal responsibility for your own safety by working to maintain a safe work environment and evaluating all tasks utilizing the SLAM risk protocol. Report all near hit incidents, unsafe acts, or situations and injures immediately to my Supervisor.
  • Screening
  • Mining
  • Identify, administer, and/or recommend necessary training needs for the plant operations personnel.
  • Provide assignments and instructions to employees to ensure continuity of tasks and efforts from shift to shift.
  • Work closely with Customer Service to schedule shipments.
  • Devise schedules to fill all orders on time, while minimizing cost and maximizing production.
  • Shipping
  • Initiate and follow-up on maintenance requests.
  • Drying
  • Regularly initiate or participate on Continuous improvement Teams.
  • Maintain product quality standards in the applicable areas of responsibility.
  • Administer all facets of the safety and health policies while adhering to the SLAM risk method within the sphere of all tasks.
  • Maintain an accurate physical inventory of finished goods
  • Resin Coating
  • Conduct safety meetings with employees as required.
  • Monitor manpower requirements and recommend changes.
  • Handle discipline and first-step grievances within the production department
  • Housekeeping
  • Ensure "good housekeeping" in area of responsibility.
  • Wet Processing
  • Report major problems to the Plant Management immediately.
  • Advise the Operations Manager of potential problems that might affect the plant's ability to produce in a safe and/or efficient manner.
  • Collect, check, and forward all necessary labor and operating reports.
  • Maintenance
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Successful Incumbent Will Have The Following Minimum Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate will be a leader with prior experience supervising in an industrial or mining environment.
  • A minimum of 2 years production and shipping experience is required.
  • Preference given to candidates that have a Bachelor Degree in Business, Engineering, Science, or Technical Field
  • Exhibit a team focus and the ability to achieve results through others.
