Position Summary
:


The production manager is responsible for the safe and efficient day-to-day production of margarin packaging facility. Responsible for developing and driving Operations Excellence Plans to help meet safety, quality and production goals and show continuous improvement throughout the facility.


Core Functions
:

  • Assist with personnel issues by participating in investigations and recommending corrective actions as necessary.
  • Has the responsibility to report all food safety and quality issues to persons having authority.
  • Collaborates with warehouse manager to oversee the packaging and warehouse operations to ensure products are produced and available for shipment on time and in full.
  • Responsible for all production supervisors.
  • Support the continuous improvement activities and act as a change agent for any changes that occur in the facility.
  • Participate in daily production meetings to remain informed and ensure that the activities of all production operations management are aligned.
  • Executes good manufacturing practices while promoting a safe working environment and sanitary production techniques through the supervision of all phases of production and packaging. Responsible for production and quality of all products produced.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to include being the acting plant manager in their absence.
  • Communicates with management and associates regarding operational issues, changes, recommendations, etc.
  • Support the Process Safety Management programs.
  • Participates in food safety inspections by interacting with regulatory agencies, Rabbi, and external auditors. Conducts tours for customers.
  • Monitor and manage product yields.
  • Meets customer service requirements by planning the workload of equipment and resources. Addresses customer complaints.
  • Responsible for all business, cost, and productivity metrics for the production department
  • Monitor KPR’s throughout the facility and help develop plans to bring teams in line with Operations Excellence goals.

  • Actively manage plant production scheduling.
  • Practices basic principles of good people management including hiring and training associates.
  • Manage monthly sanitation inspections and lead, monitor, and ensure corrective actions are completed as necessary.
  • Work with the Safety/Environmental manager to ensure compliance in all aspects.
  • Acts as a Safety Champion by setting example through leadership, employee development, and communication of safety expectations and performance in the department.


Skills/Experience Requirements
:

  • Proficient in the use of Lotus Notes, Microsoft Word, Excel, PP, and other technical software packages, as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, packaging, management, or a related field is preferred. Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a moderate to high-speed packaging environment.
  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • Participation/experience with SQF Audits. SQF practitioner preferred and must be able to obtain FSPCA certificate in first 6 months.
  • Edible oil, chemical manufacturing, or food production experience is a plus.
  • SAP experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of food sanitation, regulatory requirements, and good manufacturing practices highly desirable. Hands-on experience with lean manufacturing concepts preferred.


Work Schedule
:

  • Standard (On-call 24/7 as needed)
