Battery Cells are the common denominator for every Tesla product. Our product requirements necessitate ground-up cell architectures with state-of-the-art performance, manufactured at volumes that are orders of magnitude higher than the products they power. We are looking for passionate and self-motivated candidates to join us in our fast-paced and exciting mission. You will work alongside seasoned industry experts, high aptitude recent graduates, and people from every stage in between. We look for anyone with an exceptional ability to solve problems in both individual and team settings. What You’ll Do

• Participate in sourcing and managing of engineering relationships with suppliers
• Author documentation and deliver technical presentations
• Produce and release detailed 2D part and assembly drawings
• Research and benchmark competitive technologies
• Own basic analysis, prototyping, and testing; support advanced analysis, prototyping and testing
• Define technical specifications (dimensional, functional, performance, manufacturing)
• Hands on support of manufacturing process and automation development
• Drive cross functional collaboration with CAE, manufacturing, and test teams to mature products from concept to production
• Develop and deliver new technologies to advance product performance while driving down cost and mass
• Full design ownership of Li-on cell mechanical components and assemblies, from concept through production launch and ramp
• Conduct DFMEA and Fault Tree analysis

What You’ll Bring

• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (CATIA V5/V6 experience is a plus)
• Experience in designing for one or more high volume manufacturing processes such as stamping, deep drawing, plastic injection molding, heat treating, and metal welding
• Strong engineering fundamentals in solid mechanics and heat transfer
• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Strong communication skills and team mentality
• Basic knowledge of GD&T (proficiency is a plus)
• Familiarity with properties and applications of common engineering metals and polymers

Expected Compensation
$80,000 - $300,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
