Description


Shick Esteve is looking for a Procurement Supervisor to join our team in Kansas City, MO. As a Procurement Supervisor you will lead supply chain group and procurement activities of the Shick Esteve Purchasing Department. The supervisor has direct reporting responsibilities for a team of procurement professionals and is responsible for the delivery and performance of the team to the business. The position has change management and process development elements to instill best practices and continuous improvement initiatives. The supervisor will plan, direct and coordinate all procurement activities to limit costs and improve lead times, quality, and customer service.

What You’ll Do


  • Manage supplier risk – develop alternate vendor sources; monitor industry trends; track supplier performance and spend.
  • Analyzes market and delivery conditions to ensure present and future material availability at competitive cost.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Supplier Management:
  • Administratively manages the department including: budgeting, personnel development and evaluation, departmental structure, and allocation of workload and responsibilities.
  • Lead supplier negotiations on spend. Challenge vendor pricing. Initiate and monitor cost savings projects.
  • Develops reporting and budgets based on supply and demand, market dynamics and other requirements.
  • Establish department KPI’s with performance goals to monitor department and supply base on historical and projected performance.
  • Leads departmental initiatives focused on systemic improvements to ensure achievement of corporate objectives.
  • Identify, qualify, and select vendors.
  • Work proactively across departments to create processes, fully understand product requirements and ensure OEM items meet delivery dates.
  • Negotiate and set up private label opportunities with vendors.
  • Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price and acceptability of items to specifications.
  • Implements procurement functions alongside transactional purchasing team.
  • Develop a supplier onboarding and management process that ensures vendor capability, capacity, and performance through meaningful feedback and continuous communication of expectations.
  • Set expectations and drive behavior within the purchasing team to manage suppliers on a daily basis.
  • Develops, maintains, and implements instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures to drive efficiencies and reduce cost.


Requirements


  • Ability to drive issues to closure in a professional and compliant manner.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or comparable program required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Minimum of five years purchasing experience required, including three years of experience in vendor contract negotiations.
  • Must be analytic – compile, analyze and present data. Proven ability to use data to develop and execute.
  • Availability for occasional travel as necessary.
  • Proven ability to achieve cost savings and to meet department and company targets.
  • Ability to create and maintain effective supplier relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees.
  • Minimum of four years in a procurement leadership role, including personnel management.


Great to Haves


  • Experience in capital equipment manufacturing industry highly preferred.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing techniques highly preferred.
  • Familiar and supportive of technology and automation. MRP/ERP software experience required. Working knowledge of advanced features in Microsoft Office suite. Advanced user of Excel – creating complex spreadsheets, formulas, etc.
