Description:

Seeking an experienced, cost-conscious Procurement Manager to lead our North American purchasing operations, to include manufacturing. The Procurement Manager will be a product-savvy professional who has demonstrated experience in purchasing and who can institute innovative policies to save the company money and improve processes. The focus of this position will be on local spend and improving existing supplier relationships as well as securing new suppliers who can meet our needs more efficiently.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, lead, and execute purchasing strategies for North America
  • Oversee purchase order (PO) process
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation
  • Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
  • Manage technological systems that track shipments, inventory, supply of materials, etc.
  • Manage the RFP/RFQ process, comparing proposals for price and specifications
  • Manage procurement activities for corporate, warehouse, manufacturing facilities, which will require periodic travel, to include regular visits to the U.S. manufacturing facility
  • Assess, manage and mitigate risks
  • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
  • Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power
  • Partner with internal stake holders, guiding purchase decisions
  • Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
  • Build processes and policies that build value and decrease waste
  • Communicate changing industry trends
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Review contract specifications; negotiate for optimal contract terms
  • Build & manage strong vendor relationships

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid judgement along with decision making skills
  • Proven working experience as a purchasing manager, agent or officer
  • Demonstrated vendor management experience
  • Familiarity with contracts, invoicing and negotiation terms
  • Strong business acumen

Education and/or Experience

  • Five (5) plus years of experience in procurement leadership or equivalent role
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics or a relevant field
