Process Engineer Jobs

We are partnering with a leading company in the styrenics industry to find a skilled Process Engineer for their Pasadena, TX (approximately 30 miles from downtown Houston) location. The Process Engineer will play a crucial role in the Operations department, providing essential technical support to ensure safe and efficient plant operations with a focus on environmental responsibility.

Responsibilities:

• Establish corrective actions and investigate any operating envelope exceedances
• Monitor process variables and operational performance to achieve production, quality, and benchmarking results
• Lead/participate in incident investigations, Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), and risk assessments

• Interact with site-level, regional, and third-party teams to support production forecasting, manage product quality, and resolve operational issues
• Maintain accountability as the Asset Engineer within assigned area(s).
• Support team success through ownership of additional responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the Operations Manager
• Support the manufacturing asset through small project ownership and technical service emphasis
• Influence integrity management within the process units to ensure work related to the production facilities is completed effectively
• Develop and maintain operating envelopes, identify safe operating limits, and define consequences of deviation
• Ensure full compliance with government regulations, Health, Safety, and Environment (SHE) standards, policies, rules, procedures, and programs
• Support applicable plant record-keeping initiatives, including Operations-related accounting activities
• Manage assigned PSM/audit/quality action items to ensure completion
• Lead/participate in planning and work execution activities related to unit shutdowns, turnarounds, and start-ups
• Provide daily technical support in the process plant, advising team members on process safety and operations technology

Requirements

• B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Detailed knowledge of chemical plant process equipment and operation in continuous processes
• Industry experiences demonstrating the ability to learn and apply new information
• High familiarity with common industry software applications such as Aspen Process Simulation Tools, Aspen Process Explorer, PI Process Book
• Ability to function with high autonomy within designated boundaries
• Demonstrated effective skills in communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and operational planning
• Proven ability to deliver results in a team environment
• Statistical process improvement skills preferred
• Knowledge of Safety, Health, and Environmental Quality issues
• Recent examples of ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently
• Cooperative manner, capable of effective interfacing at all levels within the organization
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in a similar chemical or refining process (5-10 years preferred).
• Windows operating system and advanced working knowledge of Excel
• Extensive engineering knowledge and skills
• High level of motivation and drive for excellence
• High familiarity with common industry practices such as Management of Change (MOC), Root Cause Investigation (RCI), Risk Identification, and Management
