Primary Purpose:(Individual has the authority and responsibility to complete assigned tasks)
The Principal Supplier Quality Engineer drives customer satisfaction and continual improvement in accomplishing ESA’s strategic plan through monitoring, managing and resolving issues related to Supplier quality performance. The Principal SQE is proficient in developing Supplier relationships, auditing Supplier’s capabilities, capacities, products, processes and procedures, coaching Supplier improvements, leading the disposition of Supplier rejections, and coordinating Supplier corrective actions. The Principal SQE follows trends in the industry to identify opportunities, waste, and inefficiencies and proposes suggestions on how to act on these trends.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Initiate and participate in Continuous Improvement activities to improve Supplier performance, productivity, and processes
• Accountable for building Supplier partnerships in the deployment of lean, high quality, high velocity supply chain practices
• Monitor quality performance metrics for assigned Suppliers and develop Return to Green Plans
• Lead the Material Review Board (MRB)
• Issue and disposition Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCR’s)
• Review Supplier First Article Inspections (FAI’s) IAW AS9102
• Conduct Source Inspections, Incoming Receiving Inspections, and Material Surveys to ensure internal and external customers quality and technical requirements are adhered to by Suppliers
• Ensure compliance of suppliers through leading and participating in supplier audits and identify and manage Supplier risks
• Lead activities such as Supplier qualification, Supplier development, and Supplier Zero Defect Programs (ZDP)
• Coach Supplier Operations Team members on Quality Management System requirements and best practices
• Provides expertise and guidance in interpreting policies, regulatory and/or governmental regulations, agency guidelines, and customer and/or government requirements to ensure compliance within internal Supplier Quality Engineering Procedures
• Assign, monitor and close Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR’s) while ensuring appropriate Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) has been identified and addressed to reduce and/or eliminate future occurrence

• Provide mentoring to team members
• Collaborate with internal ESA/ESL organizations to identify solutions
• Completes tasks with no Manager oversight
• Provide mentoring to assigned Suppliers
• Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

Qualifications
List any unique working conditions or physical demands in this job:

• Ability to read Blue Prints, Engineering Drawings
• Ability to travel up to 30% - U.S. Passport
• Bachelor degree required, Masters preferred (Engineering/Manufacturing or equivalent Technical degree)
• Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication (Technical Writing experience a plus)
• Problem solving, analytical, and process improvement skills / experience
• Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
• ISO-9001/AS-9100
• Six-sigma, Lean, Kaizen
• Demonstrated knowledge of quality management methodologies such as:
• 5-10 years Industry experience, 10+ years Functional experience
• Quality Management Systems
• Control Plans

Certifications/Licenses
Preferred: Certified Internal Auditor
ASQ-CQE, CQA, or equivalent
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
