Job Summary

We are currently hiring an Enterprise Architect for PSEG Long Island. This position is a direct report to the PSEGLI Chief Information Officer. This key member of the IT Leadership Team is responsible for technology strategy and standards across the enterprise that align with PSEGLI business strategy as well as key themes within the broader Utilities and Technology Industries.

Job Responsibilities

The Enterprise Architect works with business and technology teams to develop and manage corporate and business strategies for applications and technologies that deliver and sustain end-to-end business operations. They must be able to partner effectively with a wide range of teams, including business leaders, delivery teams and external partners in order to drive business success while promoting and ensuring alignment with the enterprise portfolio and technology strategy.
Accountable for the creation and maintenance of the long term investment plan and technology roadmap to achieve the strategic IT objectives. This includes:

  • Recommending Lifecycle Planning (LCP) needs and identifying and driving business value through technology.
  • Driving the identification of technology opportunities to positively impact business results.
  • Supporting the IT Application and Portfolio Owners and business leaders in their domain for the development of the operating company and enterprise investment plans and technology roadmaps.
  • Understanding threats to achieving results and ensuring that the appropriate mitigating actions are being taken.
  • Facilitating working sessions with the IT SLT and key IT and business team members toward the development of the IT Investment Plan and Technology roadmap.
  • Understanding current and projected business results and how the investment portfolio impacts those results.

Responsible to promote innovation that benefits a line of business and/or the enterprise: This includes:

  • Identifying, researching, evaluating and tracking technology industry trends and developments.
o Collaborating with key technology vendors and industry leaders to identify strategic and innovative uses of technology.
o Developing proof of concept and/or prototypes to assess feasibility and fit of new technologies.
o Developing business cases and makes recommendations.
o Showcasing, communicating and marketing ideas and concepts.
  • Leading EA Domain activities that ensure well-formed agendas and effective planning for each domain. EA Domains include Application, Data, Integration, Infrastructure, Security, Mobile and Cloud.
o Ensures clear guidelines and standards for technology product use within the enterprise
o Develops and maintains an integrated technology strategy, target architecture and governance for product lifecycle status within each domain.
  • Provides EA leadership to solution / project architects for the company’s most strategic, complex and high risk business initiatives and new initiatives within their domain.
  • Provides thought leadership and guidance to business leaders on information system technologies, their roadmaps, their functionalities, costs, benefits, implementation requirements and additional opportunities to impact business results.
  • Maintains and drives data stewardship and the management of for our enterprise portfolio repository (e.g., planning and scoping enhancements, establishing related analytical tools, etc.).


Job Specific Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:
  • 10+ years of relevant experience within the information technology field or an industry with reliance on technical expertise
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Business or a related field
Key Skills and Knowledge:
  • Technically knowledgeable with the ability to assess solutions for current and future needs across organizations.
  • Proficient in working with business area’s to understand needs/requirements with an ability provide innovative solutions
  • Proven experience with leading teams on the implementation and enhancements of Energy Efficiency technologies, and/or cloud technologies.
  • Sound expertise in product/program management and alignment with architecture deliverables
  • Track record as an innovator and agent leading organizations and people through change
  • Proven experience in managing program budgets and technology cost centers in large corporate environments to ensure corporate targets are met
  • Excellent teamwork, facilitation, relationship building, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to present to all levels of management & executive leadership
  • Proven experience in long term planning including building roadmaps and program planning
  • Digital acumen
  • Experience implementing / managing Enterprise Architecture and Technology Standards programs in medium to large organizations
  • Ability to proactively communicate technical topics in a clear, succinct, and relevant way
  • Strong leadership and influence skills
  • Technology procurement & technology financial operations experience ensuring vendor contracts support business and corporate needs

Desired Skills, Competencies, Education and Experience:
  • Experience with technology organizational design
  • Industry Certifications, e.g. TOGAF 9, Open CA, CISSP, etc.
  • Advanced degree, e.g. Masters of Computer Science
