Job Description

Telamon Group is proud to partner again with McLaren Healthcare System and McLaren Northern Michigan in their search for a dynamic and transformational leader to serve as the next President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mclaren Northern Michigan.

This unique opportunity is for an innovative, goal-oriented, experienced healthcare executive to lead a robust, highly respected regional health system and to continue helping to increase access to high-quality care for patients across the region.

McLaren Northern Michigan is a 202-bed regional referral center in Petoskey, serving residents in 22 counties across northern Lower Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. More than 230 physicians represent nearly all medical and surgical specialties, enabling full-service care emphasizing cardiology, cancer, orthopedics, and neurosciences.

McLaren Northern Michigan has a network of primary care providers, specialty care clinics, and an outpatient surgery center in Cheboygan. It has achieved Magnet® status for nursing excellence, been named a Top 50 heart hospital in the U.S. by IBM/Watson Health, and received the highest national ratings from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for quality and safety.


The new CEO will partner with the leadership team, the McLaren Northern Michigan Board of Directors, Physician Groups, and others to further a consumer-oriented strategy and ensure high-performing leadership. The CEO will be a highly visible figure within McLaren Northern Michigan and surrounding communities; they will work closely with clinicians, colleagues, and other stakeholders across the enterprise. The CEO must build strong relationships with employees, local communities, county leadership, and beyond.


The President/CEO will work collaboratively with the McLaren corporate leadership team, all hospital and subsidiary leadership teams, and with physicians and staff to ensure McLaren Northern Michigan lives up to the mission and vision of McLaren Health Care Corporation. They will proactively create an environment for successful organizational performance and accepts responsibility for the clinical quality of the hospital's programs, its ability to compete in the marketplace, and financial viability.


The President/CEO must establish effective lines of communication with the Medical Staff organization and the hospital as a whole. Consults with and encourages members of the Medical Staff, as appropriate, to ensure entire interest and support in all hospital programs and stands ready at all times to assist them, serves as an ex-officio member of the Medical Staff attends, or has administrative representation at such other committees of the Medical Staff as deemed appropriate by the Corporate EVP/COO and the Board of Directors.


Cultivates and engages in relationships with representatives of government; third-party payers; corporate neighbors; public service organizations; trade organizations; and the general public as are necessary or desirable in the hospital's best interests. Engaging in other outside activities is advantageous in fulfilling the hospital's obligations as a business community member.
