Job Description

Summary:

Responsible for the direct management, overall development, coordination and management of staff to obtain optimum results in tribal employment and development initiatives. The President serves at the pleasure of the Avi Casino Enterprise, Inc. Board of Directors and as the Tribal Liaison for the Company. As such, the President is responsible for the communication of all substantial business issues to the Avi Casino Enterprise, Inc. Board of Directors and the Fort Mojave Tribal Council and to communicate and insure compliance with the ACE Board direction to operations management.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and provide career guidance to tribal team members. Assign and direct tribal mentors from the leadership development program.
  • Stays abreast of current gaming laws (State and Federal) to insure compliance in accordance with gaming regulation, rules and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with the Tribal-State Compact and the Nevada Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS).
  • Conducts meetings in support of the General Manager to instruct management staff to maintain open communication and review significant tribal employee?s activities and training in each department.
  • Approves all tribal team member selection, promotion, formal counseling and disciplinary action, training programs, experiential and development activities, rehire and termination personnel transactions.
  • Review and approve company policies within the parameters established by the Avi Casino Enterprise, Inc. Board of Directors.
  • Has joint authority with the General Manager to authorize capital expense request for the hotel and casino as approved in the annual budget by the ACE Board of Directors for less than $100,000.
  • Review financial statements and management reports and budgets for compliance with ACE Board objectives.
  • Review and approve all tribal leadership develop plans and progress against planned training and development.
  • Identifies and recommends potential successors for key resort operations, management and technical positions.
  • Has full authority to hire, terminate, suspend or discipline all tribal personnel and all other personnel with the support of the General Manager.
  • Evaluates performance of the General Manager.
  • Supervises and directs Directors and Department Heads in the performance of tribal employment, training and development.
  • Responsible for preserving and promoting tribal identity and cultural considerations.
  • Identifies and recommends potential tribal applicants and team members for promotion for all resort positions.
  • Analyzes gaming and hotel records to recommend to the General Manager ways to increase revenues and reduce costs.
  • As Tribal Liaison, coordinates and delivers proposals to the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe and ACE Board to present and gain required approvals on company initiatives.
  • Works with and reports to the Avi Casino Enterprise, Inc. Board of Directors to fulfill the employment goals of the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe.
  • Maintains effective and positive relationships and activities internally and externally with employees, customers, local, state and government officials.
  • Represents the hotel and casino in relations with the public, the press, local and State law enforcement, and the State Gaming Commission and Gaming Control Board, Fort Mojave Tribal Government, and Inter-Tribal representatives. Non-Tribal relations can be delegated to the General Manager or his designee.
  • Provide outstanding customer service in a timely manner to both guests and fellow team members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
