Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Colorado Technology Association (CTA) is the state’s premier nonprofit tech organization, creating meaningful connections throughout our community and advancing our technology ecosystem by:

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We seek a visionary leader to take our organization to new heights. The President and CEO is responsible for leading the organization to maximize impact and influence in the Colorado ecosystem. With a focus on member value and financial rigor, the CEO aims to drive excellence and long-term organizational sustainability.


This position requires an experienced leader who can effectively set the organization’s direction, oversee operations, foster partnerships, and advocate for the interests of the organization's members while driving strategic initiatives and promoting industry growth. The CEO reports directly to the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors and is accountable for achieving the organization's goals and objectives.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Execute all activities through a lens of diversity, equity, belonging, and inclusion. Focus areas for diversity include the staff, the board of directors, speakers, vendors, and event attendees.
  • Develop and implement the organization's strategic plan in collaboration with the leadership team and with input from the board of directors – ensuring alignment with the industry's long-term objectives
  • Identify emerging industry trends, challenges, and opportunities and how they affect our business community and create strategies to address them effectively.
  • Guide the organization's policies, programs, and initiatives to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of its members.


Revenue Generation:

  • Overseeing the organization’s sales team - setting goals and monitoring progress against those goals.
  • Oversee revenue-generation strategy and efforts of the organization, including membership dues, sponsorships, ticket revenue, grants, and other funding sources.
  • Relationship development for key members of the organization.


Organizational Leadership:

  • Collaboratively work with the COO to ensure a talent development system is in place to guide and support staff in executing their roles effectively and reaching their highest potential. Communicate the goals and strategies of the organization to the staff and ensure each team member understands their role in achieving those objectives and that their actions are in alignment.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and reporting requirements.
  • Lead and inspire the CTA team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment and a culture that promotes our values of relationships, innovation, quality, and gratitude


Financial Management:

  • Monitor financial performance and implement measures to address any variances or financial risks.
  • Develop and manage the organization's budget, ensuring financial sustainability, cost control, and responsible resource allocation.
  • Ensure financial rigor and P&L management at the program level.
  • Create accurate forecasting of revenue, expenses, and cash flow.


Membership Engagement:

  • Collaborate with the membership team to attract new members and retain existing ones.
  • Leverage the board members to promote CTA and membership value and recruit new members.
  • Identify strategies to enhance member engagement and satisfaction, providing valuable services and benefits to meet their needs.


Advocacy and Public Relations:

  • Serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate for the organization, representing the interests of its members to government bodies, regulatory agencies, community organizations, members, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization at industry conferences, events, and media engagements.
  • Engage in public relations and marketing efforts to enhance the organization's reputation and visibility in the industry and the broader community.
  • Establish strong relationships with key industry influencers, policymakers, and partners to advance the organization's mission.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Extensive experience in leadership positions within trade or business associations or the tech industry
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in budgeting and financial management
  • Ability to innovate, course-correct, and mitigate risk using data-driven processes
  • Proven track record of revenue production and sales leadership
  • Ability to attend evening community engagement and to travel on occasion
  • Strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Proven track record of thoughtful board recruitment and engagement
  • Passion for community service and driving positive change
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience


EXPERIENCE:

5+ years of executive leadership experience in relevant association or business role

10+ years of proven leadership experience, preferably in a technology company or adjacentfield


COMPENSATION:

$185K - $200K annually plus performance bonus opportunity
