Green hydrogen plays an essential role towards our net-zero mission. Hydrogen has widespread industrial and transport applications. Conventional hydrogen production from fossil fuels is accompanied by the release of large quantities of carbon dioxide. Our innovative technologies take renewable energy and water to produce green hydrogen with zero emission. We aspire to improve the efficiency, reduce the cost, and scale the manufacturing to meet booming green hydrogen market.
We are therefore seeking talented and highly motivated polymer chemist to develop and scale-up cutting-edge polymer electrolyte materials for Alkaline Liquid and Anion-Exchange Membrane water electrolyzer systems. We will work together to create groundbreaking solutions to transform our technologies for low-cost green H2production.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interact effectively with membrane scientists for polymer membrane fabrication and testing
- Actively maintain a safe working environment
- Keep scientific records and prepare detailed reports
- Develop effective strategies to mitigate polymer degradation
- Develop practical synthesis routes for polymer (e.g, copolymer, crosslinking) synthesis and polymer blend
- Represent the corporation to work closely with vendors and collaborators from industry and academia
- Brainstorm innovative ideas for polymer composition and structure design
- Develop economical approaches for polymer synthesis scale-up
- Pinpoint underlying chemical and electrochemical degradation mechanisms for polymers
- Characterize essential physical and chemical properties of synthesized monomers and polymers
Qualifications:
- Highly motivated with mechanical aptitude and hands-on ability
- Reasonable experience in low temperature fuel cells and electrolyzers is a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Hand-on expertise in ion-exchange polymer synthesis and characterization will be an advantage.
- Must be an innovator with bottom-up ideas
- Must be a fast learner and proactive performer
- Competency to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- A MS with 3-5 years OR a PhD with 0-3 years postgraduate experience in monomer and polymer synthesis, polymer modification and characterization
- MS or Ph.D degree in Organic Chemistry, Polymer Science, or related field focused on polymer chemistry.

Salary: $85k - $110K
Candidates should expect up to 15% international travel.
