8:00 am – 4:30 pm; Monday – Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours
required, as necessary.
Mandatory Position
This position is designated as ‘mandatory’ and, when contacted to report to work, its incumbent is expected to reach the building as expeditiously as possible using normal precautions as dictated by the adverse weather conditions.

This is a Facility Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Trades). The position is considered to be fully functioning in a particular trade area. Additionally, this position is expected to able to perform all general maintenance work at the co-level. This position may also be given the opportunity to perform/learn another trade. Tasks may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction, and design of facility components in assigned zone.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of experience. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

1. As a maintenance technician, there should be knowledge about fire, building, electrical, and mechanical codes to lead and guide other technicians.
2. Ensure compliance with State, Federal, and University regulations without fail.
3. Duties must be performed with utmost competence and professionalism by accepted trade practices, with minimal supervision or guidance.
4. May be assigned additional tasks to facilitate the seamless running of operations.

1. High school diploma or GED equivalency and at least two years of experience installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial building systems. Solid working knowledge of commercial plumbing systems and a proven track record in facilities.
2. Plumbing Journeyman Card or Plumbing Technician License.
3. Able to foster and create a teamwork-oriented atmosphere.
4. Communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, interpretation, and comprehension), and have very good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
5. Knowledgeable in Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and willing to learn new programs. 6. The ability to work and interact effectively with people from different cultures is essential.
7. Mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Positions may be required to possess and maintain required certification, licensure, educational level, and experience criteria as applicable to the tasks being performed and follow applicable building codes.
