Plumber A - Rotating Shifts - Weekends

The Plumber performs the repair, replacement and maintenance of the plumbing systems and fixtures. This is a position with no supervisory responsibility. Solders & brazes pipes as needed. Maintains, repairs and installs insulation covering on various pipes, i.e. water, steam, refrigeration lines, etc. Covers pipes and sews outer canvas, secures pipes with ‘U’ clamps. Works with no-hub and threaded pipe.
Installs, maintains, and operates perimeter heating system components and devices. Performs routine inspections, repair and replacement of plumbing equipment, i.e. sterile water tanks, sterilizes, still, etc. Installs, maintains and repairs domestic hot and cold water systems and devices, drains and waste systems. Maintains and repairs standpipe & sprinkler system. Inspects, services and repairs various equipment, including gas, oxygen and suction systems. Installs all plumbing fixtures, snakes and cleans waste lines and drains. Responds to emergency repair calls as required.

This is a full time position located at NewYork-Presbyterian /Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

This rotating weekends shift position, Saturday and Sunday 12:00 pm to 8:00pm, and Monday - Wednesday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Required Criteria:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of three years of plumbing experience
• New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness for Torch Use of Flammable Gases G-60 within probation
• New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness for Standpipe/Sprinkler S-12/S-13 within probation
• New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness for Fireguard F-60 within probation
• New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness NFPA/ASSE 99-6040 within 1 year of hire
