Plant Buyer Jobs

The Landscape Plant Buyer works out of our Roy Farm Nursery in Cornelius, Oregon. The successful applicant will have daily interaction with local and regional nurseries to acquire the highest quality plant material at reasonable prices. Teufel Landscape is a 133-year-old family-owned company doing continuous business in the nursery and landscape industry in the northwest.

Responsibilities And Duties

• Interviewing vendors, analyzing quotes, and scheduling deliveries
• Coordinate inbound and outbound deliveries to reduce freight costs, ensuring that all materials are acquired at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need
• Negotiate pricing and procure plant material for multiple Teufel landscape projects in Oregon and Washington.
• Verify invoices for accuracy and submit for payment.
• Develop and maintain necessary records and files.
• Be able to work inside and outside as needed at all times of the year
• Work from plant lists to produce price quotes for landscape projects.
• Support and maintain vendor relations/performance to facilitate quality, service, price and delivery objectives
• Work with external and internal growers to deliver the sizes and quality that we need at the right time of year.
• Obtaining delivery certifications and reviewing materials received against orders placed

Qualifications And Skills

• Strong work ethic
• Procurement experience in landscaping, construction, plant nursery or related industry
• Prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Have a valid Oregon driver’s license.
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Horticulture knowledge/experience is a plus
• Assist Nursery Manager with various other tasks as needed.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
