GENERAL PURPOSE
Responsible for the acquisition of materials and services in a high mix, low volume, highly outsourced manufacturing environment while developing, pursuing and monitoring strategic and opportunistic projects to improve customer service levels and cost savings.
Purchase products and expedite orders to meet delivery needs of equipment and aftermarket customers. Provide and maintain accurate and timely pricing and delivery information. Proactively evaluate and maximize vendor mix and performance.
Coordinate any assigned supporting team members.
This individual will encourage others to discover, develop and apply their talents enabling them to reach their full potential, and actively engages in our Lean journey by building and acting on continuous improvement opportunities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with platform and other divisions to identify and implement or align best practices.
  • Negotiate pricing and update costs as necessary
  • Work with suppliers for improvement opportunities in terms of cost, quality, delivery, and lead time.
  • Maintain positive vendor relationships.
  • Engage with platform and commodity managers to drive cost savings and cross-divisional sourcing projects.
  • Coordinate any supporting team members who can be assigned to him
  • Proactively work with Operations and Quality/Engineering to ensure suppliers are meeting the requirements of the company (delivery, quality, cost, etc.).
  • Resolve pricing and receiving discrepancies with vendors, coordinate with Accounts Payable Department.
  • Key metrics are supplier OTD, Inventory turns, supplier lead time, velocity, working capital.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or required.
  • Facilitate supplier engagement and long-term supplier relationships.
  • Create and execute sourcing project plans.
  • Collaborate with peer team members in supply chain department and work with them as a team
  • Conduct supplier capacity and capability analyses.
  • Serves as liaison between the company and suppliers.
  • Work closely with new product development team: Lead the sourcing activities in support of new products.
  • Develop and apply analytical, problem solving, team building, planning and change management skills.
  • Lead supply chain related projects, when required and appointed because of his skills/knowledges
  • Drive expansion of purchasing best practices.
  • Lead data integrity improvement in our business systems.
  • Analyze requirements (both system generated and manual) to ensure timely placement of purchase orders for goods/services. Place purchase orders using MRP system.
  • Expedite existing purchase orders, as necessary.
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action
  • Contact vendors with requests for quotes, delivery information, and cross references.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Summarize the minimum educational qualifications, years of related experience and other additional technical/professional/trade competencies required to perform this job.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.
EXPERIENCE: Five years purchasing experience, preferably in electronics industry.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES / COMPETENCIES:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Extremely organized and detailed oriented with excellent follow-up
  • Proficient in PC applications to include: MS Office
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • MRP and Supply Chain knowledge
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • CPM certification desired
