General Overview
The visa coordinator will be the primary liaison between Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), Mass Eye and Ear (MEE), and the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) for purposes of J-1 physician visa sponsorship. In addition, this role will assist with the management of visa sponsorship data for the Mass General Brigham network.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as an ECFMG Training Program Liaison (TPL) for MGH, BWH, and MEE
o Register the arrival of a new physician with ECFMG and assist with transferring J-1 records to ECFMG
o Serve as a resource for education coordinators who have questions about sponsoring a physician through ECFMG.
o Answer physician questions about their visa status, directing them to ECFMG resources as needed
o Verify continued program participation of physicians under ECFMG sponsorship and submit travel, leave of absence, change of start date, and early departure notifications to ECFMG
- Assist with the management of data in Sunapsis (international office software)
o Link Sunapsis records to the feed from the HR platform
o Assist with data audits
o Assist with managing Sunapsis alerts
- Serve as an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) responsible for the Mass General Brigham J-1 program
- Review and resolve technical questions about the Sunapsis application
- Facilitate orientation weekly.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
- Minimum 1-year office experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- US citizenship or legal permanent residence status mandated by federal regulations
- Previous immigration experience or medical education experience preferred
