Christie Clinic's Dermatology department is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner. Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm. PA/NP must provide diagnostic, therapeutic and preventative medicine under the supervision of the physician. Bachelor’s Degree in a health care related field, Illinois State Licensure, and certification as a Physician Assistant is required.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 75 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a clinical setting. Requirements include frequent exposures to sharp objects, communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Requirements may include working irregular hours.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.
- Provide monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
- Perform related work as required.
- Interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
- Triage patient telephone calls and provide consultation.
- Diagnose and treat a variety of skin, hair and nail conditions.
- Assist physicians by recording patient progress notes, issuing diagnostic orders and transcribing orders.
- Perform surgeries to remove skin cancers, cysts and other skin lesions.
- Perform intralesional injections.
- Perform a complete and/or focused physical exam and record findings. Establish presumptive diagnosis if needed.
- Perform Cryotherapy.
- Perform skin shave and punch biopsies.
- Instruct patient and family regarding medication and treatment instructions. Provide patient education.
- Administer injections, immunizations and/or oral medications. Suture wounds. Prepare written prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances.
- Perform independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
- Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients. Review patient records.
- Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Synthesize data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.
