The California Children's Services (CCS) section of the Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking to fill several immediate vacancies for Occupational and Physical Therapists*. Incumbents will be responsible for planning, implementing, and conducting individual therapy programs for the physical rehabilitation of children. Duties include the following: engage in the provision of team-centered care, to include consulting with various professional agencies; plan and implement therapy programs for children with neurological and/or orthopedic impairments after analysis of a child's medical history under direction of a physician; evaluate patients' progress and develop treatment changes; administer tests to determine functional ability, physical limitations, rehabilitation potential, and equipment needs; determine durable medical equipment needs and provide instruction regarding appropriate usage; plan and provide instruction on home and classroom programs and durable medical equipment to parents and teachers; and plan and direct group activities.
CCS has immediate vacancies for Pediatric Rehabilitation Therapists in the Colton and Victorville/Hesperia areas. The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill the current vacancies and may be used to fill future vacancies (full and part-time opportunities) within throughout the County as they occur.

As an alternative to the traditional benefits package, you may also be eligible to elect the Modified Benefit Option (MBO) that provides an increased base rate of pay ($1.75 per hour above the base rate of pay) with modified benefits. Recruitment Bonus: Eligible employees hired into a regular classified position from this recruitment may be eligible to received $2,000 in total compensation. Please see SEIU MOU for details.
Remote Assignment Location Bonus: Eligible employees hired into a regular classified position from this recruitment may be eligible to receive $2,000 in total compensation when assigned to work in a remote location. Please see SEIU MOU for details.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Full and Part-Time Schedules: Hours may vary. Some positions in this classification may be assigned to a schedule of less than full-time (80 hours) per two-week pay period.
Physical: May be required to lift or assist in lifting children over 50 pounds.
Background Investigations: Applicants must pass a background investigation and verification of employment history and education.
Travel/License: Travel throughout the county is required to perform treatment services during home site visits as needed. Employees will be required to make provision for transportation (mileage reimbursement is available). At the time of hire, a valid California class C driver's license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation.
Vaccination Requirement: Per the December 24, 2021 updated CA State Public Health Officer Order, all workers who provide services or work in facilities described in subdivision (a) of the order, including clinics and doctor offices, must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. In addition, CDPH Public Health Officer Orders updated on February 22, 2022 requires all workers in health care settings currently eligible for boosters, who provide services or work in the impacted facilities must be “fully vaccinated and boosted” for COVID-19 by March 1, 2022. COVID-19 Testing Requirements: Workers in impacted health care facilities who are not “fully vaccinated and boosted” are required to submit to COVID-19 testing at least twice per week to meet testing requirements.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following options:
Option 1: Possess and maintain a valid license as a Physical Therapist issued by the Physical Therapy Board of California (PTBC).

-OR-

Option 2:
Possess and maintain a valid license as an Occupational Therapist issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy (BOT).

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess one (1) or more years of full-time equivalent experience as a licensed Physical or Occupational Therapist.

Applicants fluent in American Sign Language, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and/or Vietnamese are strongly encouraged to apply. Additional compensation is associated with positions requiring the use of bilingual skills. Testing of bilingual skills may be required to receive additional compensation.
