Required Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
- Detail-oriented and committed to ensuring patient confidentiality
- One year experience drawing blood for patients in an outpatient setting OR have a certificate for a licensed phlebotomist from community college
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting a culture that respects and advances diversity and inclusion.
- Team player
- High School diploma/GED or the equivalent with some science courses and two years of experience in relevant academic and work experience may be substituted.
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience to include clinical experience including Phlebotomy
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Computer skills
- Previous experience in Clinical Laboratory Quality assurance and compliance
Provides phlebotomy services for studies funded through SeroNet, an NIH funded study evaluating antibody response to COVID-19 infection and other studies in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. In addition to blood draw, you will be asked to assist with recording patient responses on paper forms /study surveys. You will need to work as a team player by coordinating study activities with other team members (PIs, study coordinator etc.). The applicant will primarily work independently and as part of the larger research team with day to day activities; and report to Dr. Thomas.

Responsibilities
80% Blood Draw:
- Accurately update subject’s information in the organization's database
- Follow all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain sanitary work areas
- Gather medical testing materials, including needles, sample vials, blood storage bags and test tubes
- Explain blood draw procedures to subject and answering any questions about the process
- Prepare subject before drawing blood
- Verify subject’s information and labeling blood samples properly
- Help nervous or frightened subjects remain calm during blood draws
20% Study Support:
- Promote a safe, equitable, and respectful environment in which concerns can be addressed effectively.
- Answer patient and physician questions concerning testing procedures
- Record subject responses on paper forms /study surveys
- Maintain procedure updates
- Schedule and instruct subjects about testing procedures
Comp range: $20.00 - 23.46
