Job Description

Summary


This position is a hands-on learning experience with the pharmacy staff as well as other teams within Memorial. The position consists of learning all the tasks associated with the pharmacy technician scope of practice. The Pharmacy Technician Student position requires enrollment and participation in the Florida Board of Pharmacy approved Technician Employer Training Program.


Detailed Responsibilities


  • Trains and assists with maintaining and supporting medication distribution systems and distribution channels, including automated dispensing cabinets, medication carts, trays or kits.
  • Trains and assists with customer service and patient needs, including answering telephones, managing work queues and completing medication histories.
  • Trains and assists in preparing, filling, receiving, delivering, stocking and restocking medication inventory and supplies for the pharmacy department and drug storage areas. Repackages bulk medications.
  • Trains and assists with other responsibilities as assigned in support of pharmacy operations and within the pharmacy technician scope of practice.
  • Trains and assists in preparing non-sterile compounded medications, including hazardous and non-hazardous medications when deem appropriate.
  • Trains and assists in maintaining a clean and safe pharmacy by complying with regulations, rules and procedures.
  • Independently complete all didactic modules required in the Pharmacy Technician Employer Training Program within 40 working days of starting the program. Complete all training requirements within 6 months of hire.

Complete the Pharmacy Technician Employer Training Program and obtain registration as a Pharmacy Technician in the state of Florida within 6 months of starting the program.
