+ Position Overview


MxD is seeking a knowledgeable, hands-on People and Culture Manager. This position will report to the Director of People and Culture and will work closely with internal stakeholders across the organization to positively impact all aspects of the employee experience and culture at MxD. The People and Culture Manager is responsible for supporting and executing the human resource strategy across the organization. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly collaborative environment.


+ Position Responsibilities


  • Support employee training and development, including drafting training materials and partnering with outside vendors
  • Assist in providing reporting metrics such as turnover, retention, and DEI statistics to Senior Leadership Team
  • Assist in the administration of the performance review process, including creating a performance review schedule, sending quarterly check-in reminders, assuring goals are entered in our performance management software
  • Guide the organization-wide benefits administration process, including the annual Open Enrollment process and providing benefit plan recommendations to leadership in partnership with our external benefits brokerage team
  • Manage the MxD recruitment process, including managing external recruiting resources
  • Provide salary recommendations to recruiting, hiring manager, and other appropriate parties within established guidelines
  • Lead the HR administration process, including background checks; maintain HRIS, ATS, and Performance Management systems, and other systems; propose improvements when necessary
  • Partner with the People & Culture Director on key initiatives (i.e., compensation strategy, retention strategies, policy and procedure updates, DEI program, internship program)
  • Partner with the Accounting department for payroll administration
  • Ad hoc duties as assigned
  • Manage employee relations concerns with expertise and discretion, escalating concerns when appropriate
  • Counsel, coach, and advise staff on professional development opportunities and resources
  • Ensure organizational compliance with Federal, State, and Local employment laws
  • Maintain HRIS and ATS systems


+ Position Requirements


  • Prior experience in leading and managing the full-cycle recruiting process
  • Available to work onsite at least two days a week and for other onsite events as needed
  • Ability to shift priorities quickly
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Human Resources or Organizational Psychology concentration preferred
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive Human Resources experience
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred
  • Ability for some travel, < 5%
  • Candidate must be in the Chicagoland area
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; including the ability and desire to speak and present publicly
  • Ability and desire to work in a highly dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Exceptional internal customer service skills
  • Some experience in a management position
  • Proven experience building relationships across all levels of the organization
  • Comfortable with being in a government-funded public facing environment
  • Familiarity with Paylocity and ClearCompany, preferred
