Job Summary:

Chloeta is seeking a Pediatric Outpatient Registered Nurse to provide services at a medical facility in Shiprock, NM. It is a 60-bed medical center and has one of the largest patient volumes within the Navajo Area. The facility provides the following primary and specialty care services in inpatient and outpatient care services: medical-surgical, pediatric inpatient, labor and delivery, intensive care units, internal medicine, family practice, urgent and emergency care, women's health, mental health, pharmacy, optometry, dental, radiology, public health nursing, medical social services, health promotion/disease prevention and traditional medicine. The Emergency Department (ED) provides emergency medical treatment 24 hours a day, seven days a week to patients of all ages. The ED is certified as Peds Ready by the New Mexico Emergency Medical Services for Children and the University of New Mexico Child Ready Program.

Job Classification: Full-Time Contract

Supervisory Responsibilities: None but may serve as a mentor.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform clinical procedures common for nursing, such as performing IVs, phlebotomy, processing laboratory testing, IVIG infusions, EKG, SVN Respiratory Treatments and response to emergency codes.

  • Exercise and apply knowledge of the medications and dosages to recognize their desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use.
  • Provide clinically competent, professional care to patients through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Exercise and apply knowledge of the nursing procedures and its application to inpatient, pediatric practices to provide individualized, goal-oriented nursing care to patients.
  • Provide full range of pediatric inpatient nursing care to patients based on this specialty.
  • Analyze the results of various medical procedures and translate them into appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Provide compassionate, culturally aware care to patients to enhance their quality of life.
  • Effectively interact with patients, family members, and other health team members, which maintaining standards of professional nursing for pediatric patients.
  • Exercise and apply knowledge of childhood immunizations and vaccines with most recent patient education resources and information.

Education and Experience:

  • Newborn Life Support (NLS),
  • Required: Provide three (3) professional references at the time of application.
  • Required: Active and valid certifications required at the time of selection are:
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory for all specialties.
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS),
    • Newborn Life Support (NLS),
    • Advanced Trauma Care Nurse (ACTN) or Trauma Nurse Critical Care (TNCC), and
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
    • Other certifications as required in this nursing specialty.
  • Required: Must have 36 months of nursing experience with a minimum of two years in required specialty.
  • Required: Possess a current, valid, unrestricted nursing license in any state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States, throughout the term of this contract. License verification must be provided at the time of application.
  • Other certifications as required in this nursing specialty.
  • Advanced Trauma Care Nurse (ACTN) or Trauma Nurse Critical Care (TNCC), and
  • Required: Possess an associate’s (or a higher level of education) in nursing through an accredited program in the U.S.A.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS),
  • Required: Possess and maintain a current driver's license in any state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory for all specialties.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to frequently lift at least 50 lbs., reach, pull, push, bend, stoop, and kneel.
  • Must be able to withstand physical and emotional stress.
  • At the time of hire, must provide a fitness for duty certificate issued by a licensed physician to perform the proposed job without significant risk to personal health or the health and safety of others.
  • At the time of hire, must provide documentation of evidence of immunizations as required by the facility's immunization policy.
  • Must be able to stand and move for long periods of time.

Pre-employment Requirements:

This position may be contingent upon passing a security clearance, criminal background check (state and federal), drug screen, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review, education verification, employment verification, and/or credit check after acceptance of an offer and prior to beginning work, due to the nature of the services Chloeta provides and the responsibilities of this position.


Drug and Alcohol Testing:

To enforce Chloeta’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, an employee or candidate could be subject to undergoing a drug screen and/or alcohol testing at the beginning of employment, as well as after commencement of employment where there is reasonable suspicion of intoxication, or following an automobile or other accident, or as part of a company or facility-wide random drug screen process.


Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA):

Under the FCRA, Chloeta may request a credit check during the onboarding process. A written authorization form will be required before obtaining credit records.


Emergency Response:

Every Chloeta employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official Duty Station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official Position Description (PD). Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
