Job Description
Responsibilities


Position Summary: The purpose of this position is to schedule patient appointments for designated areas according to Tidelands Health protocols. Provides courteous, professional and efficient service to patients and providers. Responsible for accurately completing registration process for all patients including collection of co-payments and patient demographic information.


Duties


  • The Scheduler assures that patients have all information they need so that they will arrive on time and prepared for their procedures and that the hospital has all of the information required to bill properly for its services.
  • Provides accurate information so that all departments may view and print the schedule for the appointments daily, and maintains open communication with hospital departments regarding schedule changes.
  • Performs various administrative support duites for department/work location. Opens, sorts and distributes all types of mail and correspondence as is necessary and assigned.
  • Receives requests to schedule procedures from physician offices and patients and schedules the procedure according to the availability of the various departments.


Level Of Responsibility


  • The Scheduling Associate I is responsible for pre-registering and scheduling patient encounters for provider services and utilizing excellent customer services standards.


Qualifications


Experience Required:


  • At least 1 year of related customer facing experience, preferably in healthcare.


Additional Experience Required


  • Demonstrated understanding of basic medical terminology preferred. Call center, patient scheduling and/or physician front-office experience preferred. May consider prior call center experience.


Education Required


  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities


  • Ability to interact successfully with the public. Ability to perform effectively despite sudden deadlines and changing priorities; maintaining personal composure in high stress situations.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills required to interact with patients, patients’ families/visitors and clinical staff.
  • Ability to perform with a high degree of accuracy and with meticulous attention to detail. Demonstrate a strong ability to use initiative and judgment and to identify, analyze and solve problems.


Physical Requirements: Light Physical Agility Testing (PAT) Rating


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; frequently to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert up to 15 pounds of force occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job and will be measured by post offer Physical Agility testing with a required “Light” rating to verify ability to meet the requirement.
