Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY The purpose of this position is to schedule patient appointments for designated areas according to Tidelands Health protocols. Provides courteous, professional and efficient service to patients and providers. Responsible for accurately completing registration process for all patients including collection of co-payments and patient demographic information.


The Scheduling Associate IV/Lead is responsible for scheduling complex, and specialized procedures (i.e., Surgery, Interventional Radiology, Recurring Services, etc.) and coordinating multiple resources for patient services. Is a subject matter expert (SME) resource for patient services team and assists with training as needed.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


1 - The Scheduler assures that patients have all information they need so that they will arrive on time and prepared for their procedures and that the hospital has all of the information required to bill properly for its services.


2 - Receives requests to schedule procedures from physician offices and patients and schedules the procedure according to the availability of the various departments.


3 - Provides accurate information so that all departments may view and print the schedule for the appointments daily, and maintains open communication with hospital departments regarding schedule changes.


4 - Performs various administrative support duites for department/work location. Opens, sorts and distributes all types of mail and correspondence as is necessary and assigned.


REQUIRED/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


EDUCATION High School Diploma or equivalent.


EXPERIENCE At least three (3) years of related customer facing healthcare experience with at least two (2) years scheduling or preregistering patients.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES


  • Ability to interact successfully with the public. Ability to perform effectively despite sudden deadlines and changing priorities; maintaining personal composure in high stress situations.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills required to interact with patients, patients’ families/visitors and clinical staff.
  • Ability to perform with a high degree of accuracy and with meticulous attention to detail. Demonstrate a strong ability to use initiative and judgment and to identify, analyze and solve problems.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


EDUCATION Associates degree or Medical Terminology course completion.
