What would you do as a Patient Care Technician?

The Patient Care Technician is responsible for assisting nursing staff with basic care and assisting patients and their families through the surgical process in a manner that places emphasis on quality patient care. You can expect to regularly:

• Observe patient’s condition and immediately communicate changes or concerns to the assigned RN or a supervisor;
• Track the patient’s surgical journey, document patient’s status in the electronic medical record and alert patient’s family of their status as applicable;
• Serve as a personal contact, provide support and help to alleviate stress for families of surgical patients during the perioperative period;
• Follow emergency procedures including use of CPR if necessary;
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality to minimize impacts to clinic staffing schedules;
• Provide customer service, maintain confidentiality, and abide by HIPAA requirements
• Escort patients out of the building following discharge;
• Assist RN in gathering medical history information and vital signs and document in the patient’s electronic medical record
• Assist in stocking department equipment and supplies;

Requirements

• Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), OR Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification;
• Experience
• High School Diploma/GED;
• Certifications/Education
• Performing customer service duties

Note: This position provides direct patient care.

This position operates in a clinical office environment.

Physical: The noise level is usually moderate.
