Company Overview:

Clewed is an early-stage technology enabled investment and advisory firm democratizing private equity in the lower middle market. The firm pools capital from individual and institutional investors to invest flexibly through Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV) it sets up and manages for each deal.As part of this, Clewed conducts the entire investment process similar to a private equity GP for each deal using a deal / advisory team led by investment and industry professionals. Each deal has a team that support investors research, analysis, structuring and document preparation and management and reporting of risks and performance throughout the investment period. This allows many investors to access a data-driven diligence, analysis, investment memo and risk mitigation program to make investment decisions more simply without wasting time. Investors also leverage the platform to execute investments, monitor performance and participate in organized liquidity events or subsequent capital raises.

Clewed generally targets established lower middle market companies with positive EBITDA and a high growth potential that allows it to structure a minimum 20% return that is competitive and attractive for many investors. We believe the flexibility we offer owners attracts many companies that need capital from time to time to reach their potential while also opening access to one of the highest returning asset class compared to any other product in the market.

Position Summary:

This position will be responsible to lead the sourcing, due diligence, analysis and structuring of investments including: leading quantitative and qualitative analysis, valuation, structuring, terms and helping to manger the SPVs as part of the investment team of operators and consultants we create from our network of experts. The selected candidate will formulate informed opinions on which opportunities warrant investment, submitting their recommendations to the firm’s Partners, analysts and investors. Further, this individual will be responsible for actively engaging with Clewed’s client companies to coordinate support for them operationally as a Clewed investment professional responsible to maximize returns.

Responsibilities:

• Performs ad-hoc analysis to support transaction negotiations
• Contributes to the firm's business development and deal origination
• Hands-on involvement in the management of portfolio companies, providing advice and access to resources to maximize returns
• Takes a lead role in processing new investment opportunities
• Develops/mentors other deal team members in advanced modeling and other aspects of investment transactions
• Managing the due diligence, analysis, staffing, underwriting and pitching deals internally and externally
• Works closely with Clewed’s professional network of advisors, including industry experts, legal counsel, CPAs and other consultants, to assess business opportunities and risks
• Builds robust, flexible financial models to support deal underwriting and deal structuring efforts
• Maintains and further develops Clewed’s reputation actively growing its investor, entrepreneur and professional networks

• Former private equity and related investment principal preferred

Education & Experience:

• Established network in the investment community a plus
• Significant experience managing deal processes
• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA from a top-tier school preferred, but not required
• 7+ years of investment experience with a middle market private equity firm
• Expertise in various industries

This role is structured as advisory role not a regular salaried employment. Most of the compensation is in the form of deal fee at closing with some consulting structure for diligence and advisory time as customary for these roles for senior investment bankers. We also offer equity as part of an early and key team member and structure your time flexibly.
