Job Description

This position’s primary responsibilities are to assist the Paratransit Senior Transportation Manager in the management and supervision of the Paratransit Transportation Department’s operations. Under the direction of the Senior Transportation manager, this position is responsible for supervising and directing the work of the Supervisors, Van Operators, and support staff. The Transportation Manager ensures service quality standards are met by transportation contract providers, medical consult service providers and oversees contract compliance issues. This position is also responsible for tracking and responding to issues, suggestions, compliments and complaints from customers, the general public, and internal sources.

Work is performed with considerable independence and requires incumbent to plan, arrange and prioritize their own work and apply independent judgment in determining proper actions to ensure that established standards, policies, laws, codes, and regulations are adhered to. This position requires effective and cooperative working relationships with other departments, transit officials, public agencies, vendors, suppliers, and others. Work requires the ability to resolve conflicts and deal effectively throughout the organization to assure that efforts are properly directed toward achieving common Agency goals.

The Transportation Manager is expected to maintain a professional demeanor commensurate with the level of the position and which serves as an example to his/her subordinates and co-workers. This role must demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of public transportation operations, transportation scheduling, accessibility, and administrative practices and methods.

Examples of Duties
- Assists in the planning, organizing, coordinating, and managing activities and functions of the Paratransit Transportation
- Primary area of responsibility is the leadership and management of day-to-day operations to assure the agency meets/exceeds its service quality performance objectives. These performance objectives include, but are not limited to safety, on time performance, and customer service.
- Conduct annual performance reviews of Data Clerk, Operation Specialist, Eligibility Specialist, and Paratransit Supervisors.
- Oversees the service provided by the purchased transportation provider and medical consult service provider.
- Coordinate with agency-wide system administrator of the Trapeze Com-complaint module recording and tracking systems.
- Review data analysis of performance measures and financial decisions and for industry surveys for the department, i.e., ABBG

Education and Experience
Prefer bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Transportation, Public Administration, or a related field, and four years of progressively more responsible experience with public transit operations, including scheduling, customer service and quality assurance. Experience with large, complex contracts required. Three years of experience in a supervisory capacity. High level of written and oral skills, advanced level analytical and creative skills.
