Job Title: Paramedic - Emergency Department Cost Center: 301351319 Mfld-Urgent Care Scheduled Weekly Hours: 16 Employee Type: Regular Work Shift: Variable (United States of America) : JOB SUMMARY The Paramedic -Emergency Department Care Technician works under the direction of a RN to care for patients within the Emergency Department. This individual will room patients, taking vital signs, initiating intravenous lines, drawing blood, performing 12-lead EKGs, applying splints, assisting with procedures and patient monitoring. The Paramedic - Emergency Department works in a team environment to provide necessary care to our patients and their families and may assist in other clinical departments as assigned under the direction of the RN. JOB QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation. Minimum Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a paramedic program. Preferred/Optional: Associates degree in paramedicine. EXPERIENCE Minimum Required: Proficient with reading, writing and speaking English. Preferred/Optional: Experience as a paramedic. Proficient with reading, writing and speaking in alternate languages. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position. Minimum Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications provided by the American Heart Association. Current State of Wisconsin Paramedic license. Current driver's license with acceptable record may be required (varies by department/location).
