Job Description

Job Summary:


This position will provide a full range of journeyperson painting applications across a diverse set of facilities. The position will work independently to determine proper techniques for multiple surfaces and finishes. This position is in the Finishing Trades Shop and will work with other painters and tradespeople to deliver maintenance and remodel projects.


Responsibilities:

Patches, repairs, prepares, and paints various surfaces using appropriate tools and equipment to ensure adequate, safe, and operable institutional facilities. Designs, fabricates, and installs signage.
  • 5% Responsible for lead abatement activity to include the disposal of lead based materials according to federal and state regulations.
  • 5% Interprets blueprints and drawings to assess and determine specifications and calculate the materials and equipment required. Discusses project plan with customer/client
  • 5% Apply paint using various types of spray equipment, including maintenance of equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • 55% Completes skilled painting work, color matching, and mixing according to established trade standards and applicable building and safety codes
  • 5% Gathers materials, prepares work area, and maintains equipment and supplies needed for jobs
  • 10% Prepares and levels dry wall
  • 5% Cleans work area upon completion of projects according to established guidelines and expectations
  • 5% Prepare wall surfaces to remove/install various types of wall coverings.
  • 5% Reviews finished projects with client/customer. Maintains records and reports of work status and completion according to established deadlines and expectations

High School Diploma and the completion of a registered apprenticeship program approved by the Department of Workforce Development as a Painter as defined on DWD website - https://dwd.wisconsin.gov/apprenticeship/trades/painter-n-decorator.htm
Completion of an apprenticeship approved by the Department of Workforce Development as a painter. Formal recognition of status by the appropriate international or local trade organization or some type of similar formal validation of journeyman status may also be accepted. Persons having informal training and experience equivalent to the formal apprenticeship and journeyman status may also be accepted upon submission of documented proof of such training and experience. Evidence of at least 6 ,240 hours total of exterior and interior preparation and finish, paper hanging, decorating, spraying/rigging and care/use of tools and equipment including 400 hours of related instruction and safety procedures. Such evidence may include letters or statements from past customers/clients and/or employers.

This has been identified as a Crafts Worker position. Crafts Workers may elect an increased vacation allocation with a corresponding reeducation to the prevailing rate.
100 hours = $35.76
140 hours = $35.20
180 hours = $34.64
