The Outbound Warehouse Associate Order Picker picks orders and delivers them to the staging area of the Warehouse. Additionally, pickers fill orders, handle order inventory and operate a WaveLift (when needed & if trained). A Warehouse Picker may select, store, pack and monitor products within a warehouse environment depending on their individual work assignment for the day. In addition, Warehouse Associates are required to work in put-away (stocking), packing, or shipping as needed.

Hours: Day Shift Hours – Monday- Friday - 8:30am-5:30pm with 1-hour unpaid lunch.

Flexibility in start-times and work occasional Saturdays to work overtime as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilize handheld scanner to review pick lists from ERP System and pick items for the orders assigned in the queue.
  • Locate product in the warehouse and place in pick bins.
  • Use racking systems, ladders, and WaveLifts to pull orders from shelves to ensure that orders are not damaged.
  • Pack item in accordance with specifications and ship goods using designated shipping methods.
  • Assist team members with order picking, shipping, and receipt of materials.
  • Refers any issues/concerns with pick orders or assignments to the supervisor/manager.
  • Responsible for operating and inspecting warehouse equipment at the beginning and end of every shift to perform role, reporting any issues to supervisor.
  • Ensure the accuracy of each order picked, packed, and/or shipped.
  • Perform stocking duties and ensure restocking of each product pulled from the inventory.
  • Act professionally and remain focused while working.
  • Operates all warehouse equipment in a safe manner and according to policy.
  • Participates in conducting cycle counts and physical inventory.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment. Ensures workspace is clean at the end of each shift and free of any trip hazards.
  • Perform cleaning activities throughout the warehouse during slow periods and downtimes. This includes using broom and dustpan through the warehouse.
  • Assists in maintaining the security and cleanliness of the warehouse.
  • Complies with all Witmer Public Safety Group Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintain a positive attitude.
  • Performs any other duties or projects assigned by the management team.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Perform basic visual quality inspections on products.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and twist repetitively.
  • Must be able to work independently without close supervision.
  • Forklift certified a plus.
  • Must be able to read and understand labels written in English.
  • Must be able to count, add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers quickly and accurately.
  • Ensures strong sense of personal and professional ethics and character.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse with fluctuating temperatures, especially warmer seasons.
  • Maintains high level of accuracy in all aspects of job functions.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must be able follow basic verbal and written instructions.
  • Must be able to meet all required deadlines; ability to change priorities quickly as needed; ability to independently handle stress and maintain a mature problem-solving demeanor.
  • Knowledge of inventory and quality control.
  • Maintain the production pace of other team members.
  • Team player with the ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization; executives; staff; clients; outside agencies; organizations and individuals.
  • Effectively communicate information and respond to questions from various levels within the organization.
  • Previous Warehouse experience is preferred.
  • Must have a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work 8 to 10 hours a day standing up and constantly be moving.
  • Required to operate machinery following all safety rules and regulations.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to go up and down a ladder. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Individual will be exposed to varying temperature climates.
