Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Ophthalmic Technician.
In this role, the successful candidate will tests and measures eye function to assist Ophthalmologist to diagnose and treat eye disorders and disease: Tests patient's far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception to assist Ophthalmologist to diagnose and treat eye disorders and disease. Examines eye, using slit lamp, for abnormalities of cornea, and anterior and posterior chambers. Applies drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes. Measures intraocular pressure of eyes (glaucoma test). Tests patient's field of vision, including central and peripheral vision, for defects, and charts test results on graph paper. Measures axial length of eye, using ultrasound equipment. Performs other tests and measurements as requested by physician.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Slit Lamp Examinations
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs all aspects of visual acuity testing and Visual Field Testing.
  • All Patient Correspondence including but not limited to: Disability Forms, Patient Education, Surgical Consent Forms.
  • Completes Medical History, Lensometry, Auto Refracting, Pam Testing, Glare Testing.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or equivalent required. Five (5) or more years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in a retina practice preferred. Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) from a Joint Commission for Allied Health Personnel (JCAHPO) approved institutional course preferred or working towards obtaining certification.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferable 5 + years experience in Retina Practice. Certified Ophthalmic Assistant

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $55,595.28 - $92,658.80 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
